Enhanced Security Measures for US flights
    « Thread started on: Aug 11th, 2006, 11:40am »
Saw a post at TOF that liquid items are now banned on flights to/from the U.S., and hand luggage (including laptops) is now banned as well. Is that true?
This would mean no Connexion on my SQ 2 and a possible delayed arrival into SFO due to enhanced screenings at HKG (SQ 2 has been either on time or slightly late the past week IIRC).

According to the SQ news release, on flights to/from the US only liquids and gels are banned, for now.

The more stringent rules (no hand luggage at all) apply to SQ flights from the UK.

Saw a long line of additional luggage security check in SIN for pax checking into SQ20. They seemed to search all luggage manually (by hand).

    Reid warns terror threat remains
Recent counter terrorism arrests do not mean the threat to the UK has ended, Home Secretary John Reid has said.

I went to YVR today. Had to sign paper for UA award due to different last name than mine. It seems back to normal. The agent said the same thing. The security will take longer. But the pax seems to know that no liquid and gels on board.
