From the USA, I've generally been pretty happy with AmEx PTS, available if you have their regular Plat charge card. They charge about US$35 to issue an electronic ticket, have 24/7 support, and accept reverse charge calls from abroad. A lot depends on the particular agent and it can be better to find one person to basically work with, but most of the typical agents are willing and competent.

Good Travel Agent based in Singapore

I've read in many places that Travel Agents are a fast dying breed, but that some are also rising out of the ashes as specialists who can help us deal with complicated itineraries, or difficult travel and so on. Who do you use for these ultra complicated itineraries when you're based out of Singapore?

What I'm thinking of is something like catching NH from SIN-SEA(Catching the 787)-SEA-ORD-MCO-(Maybe NYC)-SIN. With maybe VX or (urgh) UA for domestic. I'm also trying to get this itinerary booked at as cheap a fare on as good a cabin as possible.

I don't seem to see any other thread that deals with this specific issue and I am hoping the kind folks @ SQTalk can share some of their expertise.

As cheap as possible and as good a cabin as possible seem to be somewhat incompatible!

haha someone had the same thought as me recently! the search function on SQtalk somehow didn't pick up that thread Hrm.

But to address your point, I meant not having to slum it out in Economy whilst not having to pay next year's salary to fly to the states. I would like to fly ANA coz at present they seem to have a 5.3k SGD flight to LAX. But it's the return that's the problem as I would like to take the flight from the East Coast of the states...

Anyway! Thanks again jhm! I knew the answer was here somewhere.

I work from home and fly at least once a month, being lazy, I use Flight Center, Stanley Street. I am assigned a permanent travel consultant who knows my likes and nots. I usually tell her where I want to fly to, general timings and what airlines and she usually respond with my itinerary within 2hours.

They can also offer a cheaper alternative itinerary, but not necessarily time efficient They charge a flat rate per sector based on region. Rate as far as I know is competative, but I like them because they usually tolerate my itinerary changes and impatience

They also do visa services, pretty standard for most visas, but they have a Chinese F visa service that I find very useful....

I believe that you would need to pass them your Invitation Letter issued by the company in China before they can apply it for you right?

I need a Chinese F-visa as well, but the Invitation Letter is a bit difficult to get.

An F visa is a business visa for China (an L visa is a tourist visa, a Z visa is for taking up temporary residence, and there's a few more). It can be single, double, or multi-entry, be good for entry for three, six, or twelve months, and length of stays can be 30, 60, or 90 days.

First F visa is normally limited to single entry, three months, 30 days. You do need an invitation letter, which will also state the details. In my experience, the details regarding stays in the invitation letter does not really matter for subsequent applications. You get what you tick on the application form.

Thanks for the tip, I've always gone for the double entry (and they never check the ticket on the second entry) tourist visa valid for 6 months. Kinda flexible enough, but would for sure prefer 12 months. Very handy travel agent you have there, mind PM-ing the name, Bat69?

I got a 12 months multiple entry F visa, as you hold Aussie passport, having a Singapore PR will be easier, but not impossible, as my boss got his when he was here on 'tourist'. I will PM you details, just don't faint when they quote you the price

Has anyone tried MISA Travel before? They seem to do *A/OW/SkyTeam tickets and do seem to be quite a professional outfit but of course anyone's experiences will be welcomed.

They're good with point to point from Singapore only. Anything else out of the ordinary like starting your RTW from somewhere else - (which is pointless anyway since they have to be ticketed at the ex-SIN fare as ex-SIN is higher than wherever you're starting from..) - they'd probably tell you is not possible.

You also can't just give them a creditcard number over the phone. You need to fax in docs etc.

Plus you can't tell them to issue on a fare you find elsewhere (eg ITA) as they will only go with what their GDS tell them. So forget about 'error' fares.
