    • Any news on 9V-SHA? Usually the bird starting with A would get delivered first, right?

9V-SHA is currently at the Flightline. She has completed one Test Flight and should be doing another two test flights before moving to the Delivery Centre for her CAF. Delivery should take place before Christmas.

It’s not unusual for aircraft to overtake each other along the production line. Could be due to late arrival of parts or issues with production. 9V-SHA rolled out onto the Flightline about the same time as 9V-SHB but took a longer time to start her test flights. It just so happened that A was overtaken by B this time. 9V-SKH was delivered before 9V-SKG previously during the production of the A380s. No issues at all.

Thanks,9V-SPL, for the update. Very exciting to have 2 brand new SQ A350-900 aircraft arriving at Changi within a span of 1 hour this coming Saturday. I think the last time a double delivery took place was when 9V-SJA and 9V-SJB, the first two A340-300 were delivered in April 1996. Prior to that, it was the very first two SQ B747-200 arriving at Paya Lebar in 1973. They were 9V-SIA and 9V-SIB. Not sure if there were other double deliveries in SQ's history.

                      • Singapore Airlines around late-November 2018 filed planned aircraft changes for Singapore – Brisbane route, which sees service entry of Airbus A350 Regional configuration. The 2-class 303-seater A350 will operate this route from 07JAN19 (SIN departure), as SQ235/256.

                        SQ235 SIN2115 – 0715+1BNE 359 D
                        SQ256 BNE0910 – 1510SIN 359 D

Yes! My bookings for Jan/Feb 2019 show the new regional seats on an A350. Glad to finally have lie-flats for this route (esp overnight to ADL).

                            • Singapore Airlines A350-900ULR creates premium economy glut

In many cases SIA is offering cheaper premium economy fares than regular economy fares on the same routes for the same dates of travel – an unsustainable scenario that could lead to adjustments in SIA’s A350-900ULR operation as early as next year.

I wonder if anyone with information or with access to CAPA premium analysis can offer insights what adjustments in ULR operation are in consideration?
Some options I can think of:
                              • Introducing regular economy seats in A359ULR?
                              • Expanding business class cabin and reducing premium economy seat count?
                              • Shuffling of frequencies?

The Business Class fares on the EWR route is climbling, from over SGD5000 initially to more than SGD7000 now while premium economy has fallen from SGD2,200 to SGD 1700.

SGD1700 is about how much other airlines charge for flying from SIN to NYC in Economy. If customers are not biting at this price point, maybe the demand isn't there at all. Offering economy is not likely to help.

The writing is on the wall if this goes on. From a corporate perspective, converting the plane to have Suites and Business may do wonders for their revenue numbers.
