SQ2/1 will be operated by 9V-SJA for the nonstop SFO service. Wonder if like SQ32/31, will they use the A350 series SMV-SJA with the 2017 product as opposed to other tranche with the 2013 product.

If I remember reading some threads here I think there were 1 or 2 occasions that SQ2 operated nonstop bypassing HKG with a 77W. Does the 77W not have enough range/payload to make it back nonstop? Wonder what would happen to those 4 First class seats if passengers booked F.

This is becoming a very serious problem. Also given the very random nature of these potential cuts, it suggests a widespread rationalisation in order to stem what must be becoming significant financial losses. It would be reasonable to expect some airlines not in SQ's relatively healthy position won't see this year out.

At least these cuts are not so much as compare to the almost 50% cut by CX.

I think very soon SQ crews will be asked to go for unpaid leave?

Just saw that SQ is selling at $198 round trip for SIN-DPS in March. First time I see this price. Usually the prices are at least $400 minimum round trip. Guess they have lost a lot of connecting paxes.

Remote bays are fast getting filled up and aircraft are starting to get parked at north cross.

A lot of Scoot A320s parked near the RWY02L stands and 9V-SWU was parked at gate G21 as of this morning.

I'm still seeing economy standard fares for flight to LHR in March. IIRC, there was still premium economy lite fares (remembered this as I was looking for the upgrade to J)..

                    • Wonder whether we will see faster retirement of the old 777-200s and returning of A330 to lessors, since there’ll be lots of spare capacity from cancelled flights...

                      • Hope SQ will take these planes downtime for more preventive maintaince checks and also cabin checks to ensure all seats and cabin fittings are all in good working order.

Provided they can find new homes for the A330s in time.

Vietnam Airlines is also leasing out some of their fleets, so it's a lessee's market in that sense. Though if the 737 Max issue doesn't resolve itself by the summer peak season...

Are they able to find the maintainance slots n hangers?

Definitely unable for all the grounded planes but there are some excess capacity to do some additonal ones over the 4-8 weeks. But for cabin fixtures and minor works they should be able to check as not all the planes have issues.

                              • Seeing as SQ has reduced capacity to Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, it seems odd that Scoot has not announced similar cancellations to these destinations. Might it be that customers on Scoot can’t cancel their flights for a refund, thus the reduced demand is not reflected?
