Damage on right wing looks rather bad. (Photo from ST). Any idea which aircraft was involved? Flight was SQ368.

So is that plane going to be repaired or replaced?

I am very surprised that they did not pop the slides, given the size of the flames. When they do their post-incident analysis, I am very keen to know whether or not it was the right decision to keep everyone onboard, or if it would have been preferable to pop the slides. Good to know everyone is safe.

Shouldn't be a write off. The BA 777 experienced just as, if not worse, fire damage.

If I am not wrong, this is standard procedure to do in case of external fires? I remember QF32, when there was a fire risk with the engine that refused to shut down, they did the same thing.

Should not be a write off. It will just face a lengthy downtime. Judging from the damages, the entire wing will have to be replaced with a new one from Boeing.

Do they maintain spares for wings?

Oh just realised that BA 777 with engine fire also uses GE90 engine.

They probably wanted to minimize the injuries (and panic) associated with evacuating via the slides.

must be very terrifying for passengers and those sitting on the right side and able to see the wing on fire.
