Supposedly the man was dragged off so that a non-rev staff could take his spot.......WOW

Those non-revs were crew members who had to be in Louisville to operate a flight. I can see the logic in prioritising the crew, but the handling of this situation is just horrible.

Got to love UA! Those were the employees of the month graciously escorting the Doctor off the plane... I'm sure they are in the running for Skytrax's 2017 "Best Customer Service" award...

Oh my!

I really feel sorry for the passenger. Even for UA, this is a new low in their "customer service".

and apparently beaten by the security and forcibly dragged out of the plane like a criminal - fortunately there's a video on this. Thats way too much for United. Even for its 4 non-rev crew whom the fare paying passengers were booted out and this particular man got the brunt of it, it just shows how bad United system of booting out fare paying passengers over its non-flying crew.
And couldnt the 4 crew be seated on the jump seats in the flight deck and the crew seats in the cabin?

Pretty sure a narrowbody doesn't have that many spare crew seats...

Default United Airlines Passenger Is Dragged From an Overbooked Flight

Looks like no one posted this, so here you go.
Although we can earn 100% Krisflyer miles on United....I'm thinking about avoiding United from now on...

I don't see how the crew of another schedule is priority over paying customer - UA can simply private jet them. This is all about proper planning and scheduling. You can't take the icing and the cake as and when it best suits your needs. If the staff is need on an emergency to rectify a technical or medical issue - yes then take makes sense but if they are there to address a profit issue then don't take it out on a paying customer who did not do anything wrong

This is making headlines across the US and internationally getting attention too. Talk about the wrong way to treat customers!!! Also another example of how *A carriers are not all equal. SQ >>>> UA by miles.

To put it more objectively, UA wanted to him off the plane, it was the police with the violence. Everywhere I'm reading, UA is being blamed for the violence, which would not have happened if he obeyed instructions to exit the plane.

Booting 4 paying passengers, for potentially a few plane loads of passengers that this crew is going to take. Crews also fall sick when they are outstation. I'd believe SQ would also IDB paying passengers to cover up for all these crew shortfall, if necessary.

To be honest, optics matter. Once that image gets out onto the internet, damage control will essentially be impossible.

Not everybody will bother finding out what's actual story. Those who are more skeptical will, but those who aren't will just look at the video and blame it on UA.
