  • Question about J>F Connection Time at SIN

    Hi there!

Very excited to have found this forum through FT after making my first SQ booking. Lots of great info here, and I'm hoping you could help me with a question:

Right now I'm booked on an evening flight from DPS-SIN, and then on SQ326 the following day at 13:55.

I'm tempted to stay an extra night in Bali and book SQ941 from DPS-SIN arriving at 13:00 with a 55-minute connection. The MCT for this route is 50 minutes.

Am I playing with fire here, or have others made this connection easily?

We'll be in C for DPS-SIN and F for SIN-FRA, and we won't have any checked bags.

    Thanks in advance!

Question: what is your tolerance level for missing SQ326?

u would not want to land in the finger pier F gates in T2 and have to run to the A gates in T3... but then again you're flying in F and they will probably do anything to get you on that flight...

Do you really want to miss the trip to the Private Room???

        I'd say it's...medium?

We're connecting to SQ26 the following morning, and I wouldn't want to miss that. I could hope against hope that two suites are open on the redeye

We've got another SQ trip booked a bit later where I hope to visit the Private Room, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for an extra night in Bali

Thanks for the insight...think they'd buggy us from the F gates if we came in late?

As a follow-up to this, my hope is to waitlist SQ26, as I'd rather take that one anyway. But it's not available right now, so I'm just gauging how stressful it would be to book the 50-minute connection with SQ326.

It would be stressful IMHO. If they allow you to book thru in the first place. If the flight gets in on time, your F tix should get you a buggy ride to your connecting - try asking for it at check-in in DPS. Call SQ up and see if they are willing to set you up for the connection. If they do, then they will take responsibility if your incoming is late. The fear of course is SQ941 is late for whatever reason. SQ will of course take care of you BUT you will miss the connecting, and you will have no choice but to take the next available.

In LAX I saw them hold the plane up for a couple of late PPS in F but I think they will only do it for a few minutes IF they know the pax is on the way. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll give them a call today and see what they say. My biggest fear here would be that the flight is late AND there are no Suites available they could put us into on the evening flight.

I agree with this. Unfortunately, I'm balancing that with hating the feeling of cutting a trip too short

Alright. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Much appreciated.

I just called SQ, and the agent told me that if the connection gets tight, they'll pick us up at the gate and escort us to the plane. I've waitlisted for SQ26 that evening, so hopefully none of this matters, but I'm leaning toward chancing it.

It's early enough in the day, and there are enough *A carriers flying F routes back to the east coast of the US that I feel decent about my chances of getting rerouted in the worst case scenario.

                        One more question:

SQ941 is on the A333...I'd like to seat us as close to the exit as possible. At SIN, will we deplane at the front of the A/C (at row 11), or between the J/Y cabins (behind row 16)?

                        Thanks!

Welcome to SQTalk!. I would personally have no problem with that connection if it meant an extra night in Bali, but make sure you get off sharpish as the DPS flights occasionally suffer from the lookbossmoresecuritythataddsfcukallvalue trick they like to waste peoples time with at Changi.

Unlikely to use a buggy if the DPS inbound is to T2 though ?.

It should be both 1L and 2L, and fortunately Changi is pretty good at getting the jetways attached quick, so go for 11A/C or 16A/C so you should be good for getting off quick, save for the possible inbound security check mentioned above.

Thank you! Excited to have found it, and look forward to spending more time here.

I've decided to go ahead and book the connection, and deal with the consequences should I have to. An extra night in Bali is worth it, I think. I just won't tell the wife about the 50-minute connection until our last day. Hopefully she'll be too blissed out to care

Good to know -- picked 11A/C. Thanks again!
