Ha. Sorry I couldn't resist putting this old classic livery of the BIG TOP. Now that this is an old livery, I consider it a special one. They still look good, even 20 years later.

It seems like carrying an extra engine is a 747 'thing'. I can't find photos with any other aircraft type carrying an extra engine. Is it true? Can any expert verify?
We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.

Well you can't do it with many planes but I'm certain I've seen such a config on an Il 78.
Capslock is cruise control for cool... not!

See you at W:O:A 2010- rain or shine!

I'm not an expert, but I know the 747s can ferry a fifth engine in that spot you can see in the photo. There's a few photos on a.nut if you want to confirm.

The old livery would not look out of date today

On that plane no livery would look boring or out of date- ever!

Yeah, I know. But is this just applicable to 747s?

                      OT I once flew LHR-SIN on SQ ( can't remember 747 or 707 ) carrying a 5th engine.

Pilot apologized that we would be late arriving because of the extra drag imposed by said engine.

Unless I am mistaken, Lufthansa also painted the nose of a 747-400 with this soccer ball pattern, right?

I'd vote for G-BOAD with SQ livery too.
