  • MH - How Are They Managing Fleet Wise?

    Hello,

Now MH have lost 2 772's in such a short space of time how are they managing covering flights with the remaining fleet? Are they having to lease aircraft to cover? Or maybe made reductions in service? Or did they have enough slack in the fleet to cover?

Just wondering whats going on really.

    Thanks

Can't confirm but I saw somewhere that they'd put a couple of parked 744s in service.
The world's too large a place not to go wandering.

      They don't do anything.

MH has excess of aircraft since their new A333s and B738s come online.

This is reflected in some of the destinations, which are not historically and traditionally a B772 destination being served with B772s. E.g. DAC and DPS.

Most of the B772 destinations have been replaced by the newer A333s - ADL, PEK, BNE, DEL, DXB, DWC, CAN, MEL, KIX, PER, ICN, PVG, SYD.

MH is in the process of retiring its older aircraft. 3 B772s are slated for retirement in 2014. However 2 were involved in a tragedy, hence MH just need to retire 1 B772 this year.

The B744 that was reactivated (9M-MPP) is a standby aircraft to fill in for the A380s as they take turn to be offline for the wing fix.

Some scheduled flight also reduced. For example KUL to PEK has reduced from 2 flights a day to 1.

It's mainly due to poor loads. Nothing to do with having fewer aircraft.

Does that free up some aircraft?
