SVE was the last to get the hand me down 77W interior and IFE. Would be terrible planning if they retire it before SVM and N! But who knows. At this point in time, maintenance costs probably prevails.

I spy SQL otw to pick me up

And that was the time when -SVF made daily appearance into MEL!

We're finally rid of the regional seat from November 2019 onwards.....

Is SVE under maintainance ? Today saw SVE parking at one of the remote stand beside the airport police station. (Just beside the road to T4). One of the cargo hold is open with some staff around.

Thank you for that summary. Even if there does turn out to be a couple of adjustments I know how long it takes to compile and present information like this and it helps us all.

It certainly suggests there's not a lot left for the SQ/SR series to do after the next two months. But it also suggests that not much is being taken off them until the half-year timetable change so we shouldn't be looking for more retirements until then unless this changes or perhaps they have already too many left and can spare one going.

Thanks... Yeah my flight SQ912 is using 772-ER based on the seat map. Will I see museum grade cabin?

Are you flying in J or Y?

                  • Just want to make a note that after 21 years, we’re down to the final 9V-SRx aircraft - SRM.

SRO should be out of the fleet for sure as it has been away for 3 weeks. With all of the 772s due for retirement, highly doubt any type of maintenance requiring that length of time will be done.

                    • The oldest of 772s/773s have been flying for SQ for 18 years, although a few have been trasferred to NokScoot which would see them flying past their 20th year. This is the first time that SQ have flown a passenger plane the longest years in history. Back in the earlier days, SQ then have the policy of changing their aircraft every 10-12 years to keep the average age down and have one of the youngest average age of aircrafts. But in recent years SQ have kept their planes flying much longer and perhaps even fly them for up to 20 years. Whilst its ok to fly them longer however in recent times there have been quite a number of passengers complaints about the poor cabin seats that are not properly maintained and the PTV system.

                      • SVB is worth keeping an eye on- out of service for over a week now. I was more expecting SVN to go. It had had quite a few gaps of a few days here and there and has been largely confined to short hops and pilot training exercises, although does get the occasional IST which must be a joy for the Y cabin.

                        • SVB likely will go as its one of the oldest and been flying 18.1 years, but for SVN its only 16.6 years old and SIA can still squeeze some time out of her.

SVB, C & E are the refitted ones, though. M and N are not. I don't think any of them have much longer to go in the fleet and if only one remains by next March as SQ have announced, my bet is it will either be B, C or E. I'm of the opinion that the single 772 and 772ER remaining at the end of the financial year won't remain all that much longer after that either. It would seem very odd to keep two old planes with completely unique cabin layouts in the fleet when they could just as easily keep two of the same layout instead. Just my educated guess.

                            • It’s time we played a little guessing game: retirement order 😂

                              SQL
                              SQM
                              SQN
SRM <- last, because SR versions have so far appeared to be preferred (whilst the SQx have all be sent to the desert to die with all but SQI (which was leased) and SQH finding a buyer (VIM airlines, nonetheless rotting in the desert now too))

                              SVM
                              SVN
                              SVB
                              SVC
SVE <- last, because last to have undergone major maintenance and refurbishment

                              Comment

                              • I am wondering if the plan is for SVB, SVC and SVE to run a bit longer hence they are being taken out for rest periods so as not to exceed their cycle/hour limits.
