Hey there, I think this is my first official topic post on SQ Talks forum! I just wanted to know whether do seats generally fill up significantly faster during the last 24 hour window before the flight? I ask this because I checked the online seat maps several hours ago today and there were still a good 20-30 seats empty. But suddenly I checked again tonight and there's only around 5. Even in seats in the areas near the lavatory where you think nobody would want to sit have all filled up. Weird? Would love to hear some opinions! Thanks a lot guys!

Do seats Fill up Fast 24 hours before flight or are they blocked?

When i was an SQ ground staff, we would assign seats 3 days prior to the flight. Bassinet seats, families, and groups. We would also block seats too and release it on the day of departure. And sometimes, we would "open boarding" to not let the system take away any pre-assigned seats or have other airlines transfer their passengers onto an SQ flight.

Yeah, often prior to OLCI opening up 48 hours before the flight, I see substantial numbers of empty seats on what I suspect is going to be a full flight or reasonably full. Then when OLCI opens, there are far fewer or almost no spare seats to move to. Based on queues at the airport, I don't think all those passengers have actually checked in, but a seat has been allocated to them as a default, which I think is in line with what Avenger 777 is saying.
