Cuts now look much more severe than they did yesterday. No BNE flights at all, six SQ221 to SYD per week (down from 35, all others canned, no flights on Wednesdays), one LHR per day (SQ322), one MEL per day (SQ227), one PER per day (SQ223)...

This is huge. 50% seems like an understatement.

      • Wonder where are the Singapore registered airlines going to park their planes in Changi as Jetstar Asia says it have grounded all its 18 planes and SQ about half whch is about 68 planes and Silkair if its half of its 39 planes which should be more than that and Scoot with half of its 50 planes. But looking at the cancellations, it would looks like Silkair and Scoot would have cancelled more than 50% of their destination flights and more than half of their fleet are grounded as they served ASEAN and North Asia destinations mainly.

I reckon they may use Paya Lebar Airport (QPG) and Seletar Airport (XSP)?

Qantas says 90% cut in international routes. Most other airlines like AA, BA, LH will be cutting about 70%. I would be surprised if SQ can still operate at 50% with no domestic market.

9V-SMR returned to SIN as SQ8931 and landed this morning

One of the runways could be temporarily closed and used to park aircraft. It's been done before elsewhere and at current traffic levels one operating runway at Changi should be sufficient for a few months.

                • Could someone please confirm that SQ247/SQ248 will operate for the last time on the 19th or not?

The main issue with parking on one of the runway is that if an incident occurs such as aircraft disabled on a runway or such, the entire airport practically closes down.

Forcing airline paxs to land elsewhere with the current immigration lockdown condition in neighbouring countries is not something Changi would want to do.

They could possibly park the aircrafts on taxiways or even at the normal bays itself as they would not be used with the flight cuts.

                    • Yes should be taxiways and not runways.

                      • Can also park at the gates if really no space.
Don’t think there is a need for so many gates right now

Accordingly to wiki, there are 117 boarding gates plus 42 remote parking bay.
Maybe can just use one terminal for the time being

NZ have announced a 85% reduction in international long haul capacity come end March. Apparently the only international long haul route that NZ would be operating from April onwards would be AKL-SIN and AKL-LAX, the others have been suspended. Off course they would be operating Tasman/Pacific Short Haul international routes, albeit at a reduced capacity.

We are due to fly AKL-NRT vv in April, so with this we won’t be able to travel although we have yet to hear from NZ about what will happen to our flight booking and plans going forward (in terms of refunds and/or flight credits) etc.

                          • SQ will be operating a cargo only flight to Beijing today.

                            SQ806|18MAR (SIN-PEK) will be operated by 9V-SNA.

There are a few planes parked on taxiway N (formerly NC1) and SQ planes are using T4 gates to park and Scoot using T3 gates (typically A16-A21) gates to park as well. The stands near the expressway and RWY02L are quite full. Even Vistara has increasingly been using normal gates, when they exclusively used to be remote bay flights.
