sounds more like an accelerated delivery of the regional A350s or 78J

SQL last flow on 10/10. So guess it is just undergoing maintainance?
While it was speculated before that SVJ, SVM and SVN will be retired by March 2019 (as SQ stated in May 2018 that three more 77Es will leave through March 2019), it appears now that only one of the three will leave by then.

No. Still reflected as 3 regional A350 n 8x78J. Which is the same as previously announced in May

Yeah noticed that too...how unusual! Flying normally too. 8877 should be a test flight designation. See what it’s next flight is.

Perhaps, a military charter for the SAF?

I think that's just SQL undergoing an after heavy check test flight. It's been out of service for about 6 weeks.

I was thinking about this too. Maybe holding on to capacity in case of A350 tech issues? While less than ideal due to the lack of PE and the older business seats, the 200ERs could cover for 350s if required and allow things like a standard config 350 filling for a ULR to LAX.

likely a military charter, as usually test flights, SIA do not fly so far to UTP and would be around Southern Singapore or over the South China Sea and fairly often if it touch and go, its usually in JHB. However on odd occassions, they do fly to KUL.

SVC and SVE both are now over 17 years old and still is flying service.

Military charters doesn't use call sign SQ8877 or SQ8876.

SVB is slightly older than SVC and it is still flying as well.

SQ refitted SVB, SVC and SVE with the 2006 Y product with 2013 seat covers, while SVJ, SVM, SVN are still flying with the old Refurb Y product. This suggests that SQ is planning to keep the older frames longer.

                            • Imagine flying on a 20 year old SIA plane in a couple of years. Must be the first time SQ uses its planes for so long, although its likely that these old planes will fly more regional routes but it will be more costly as it uses more fuel and the plane is heavy for regional flights.

                              • I’d really like to fly those mid-haul flights on the old 772s again, such as to japan. They’re still a lot more comfortable, seat width and leg space wise. I know the IFE is crap but there’s nothing like having that kind of space. The A350s and 78Js just don’t provide the same level of spaciousness.
