I believe there are still lots of Chinese tourists making their way back home (from and via SIN), as the CNY holidays were originally meant to be over only this weekend. So it may be difficult for SQ group to cut flights now, but there could be reductions beginning next week. There is also a possibility of SQ canceling only the China - SIN leg for now, flying the aircraft back empty.

PEK is a 6 hour flight with frequent ATC delays. They probably need 2 sets of crew.

I think cabin crews should be enough. These flights should be around half full right now. Pilots wise might need another one ?

CX do have many 7-8pm flights which layover overnight at China Airport for early 7-8am departure which mean their crews will stay overnight. But they have retimed these flights to depart at 3-5am instead so crews won’t stay overnight
All flights to PEK and PVG will operate as turnaround flights from tomorrow (30JAN20), 0730hrs.

Will SQ modified their inflight services for China flights like what CX is doing. (First/business - single tray service ie Y class style meal, and for Y class, heated snack bags only).

I think SQ might be suspending China flights very soon after they have bring/send back the New Years paxes. I believe for Feb, most of the paxes have already canceled or changed the date.

There's a lot of things CX can do that SQ can't, by nature of CX being much closer and flight times being shorter

SQ may find themselves better off stopping the flights altogether. As for Scoot, let's see what happens there...

Let’s see what the SIN government does. Many others have ceased direct flights to the whole of China.

With the A380 and B77W which SQ operates with on the PEK and PVG routes, crew rest areas are available on board so technically they can modify the service so that half of the crews will be resting during after the meal service on the outbound flight and half on the inbound flight.

Singapore closes borders to all Chinese travellers to stem spread of coronavirus

I wonder whether Singapore Airlines and Silkair will cancel all services to/from mainland China, in order to minimise the spread of virus into Singapore?

Perhaps SIA can consider switching B737-800 to Hong Kong instead of using larger planes except SQ 1 & 2?

Wuhan virus: Visitors with recent travel history to China (within 14 days) not allowed entry or transit to Singapore

With the latest announcement from Singapore government, it looks likely SQ will cut further its flight to China since it can only transport Singaporean residents on flight from China.

Would it rebook connecting passengers from China to say Indonesia, Australia or India on other airlines?

Scoot has cancelled all China flights from 8FEB and will hand out refunds:

You'd expect SQ to follow suit.
