    SQFG thanks for sharing the photos. I love going up tall buildings and really want to get to Taipei one day to go up 101.

    Unfortunately the new tallest building is going to be in Dubai and there is somewhere I am in no hurry to go back to.

      It took me a while to see the speed in that picture. I initially did not read the captions but only the numbers. Why on earth do they use M/M ?? or m/min?

      As for your ears, the atmospheric pressure at the top is about 6% lower than at the base. Not insignificant...

        Yes, it is meters per min. Actually 863 wasn't even peak speed. It was decelerating approaching the top.

          DFP: The whole ride takes under 1 minute (both ways) so it's probably just to give riders a sense of what can be achieved if the elevators had a chance to get to a minute.

          Lobster: I bet the elevators in the Burj will give these a run for their money. Although not completed, it's way, way taller than the 101!
