It seems Scoot is doing very good business operating fifth freedom route out of Taipei to Japan. Taipei must have been its biggest hub after Changi, with flights to Tokyo, Seoul, Sapporo besides Singapore.

Perhaps Scoot operating more fifth freedom route is also to mitigate overcapacity risk out of Singapore since it is anticipating returns of A320 leased to Indigo and the introduction of B738 transferred from MI.

Will we see Scoot fifth freedom route to the US or Canada out of TPE? First mover advantage since no Taiwanese LCC has announced intention to fly long-haul.

I am quite sure Singapore carriers still have rights to fly TPE-USA (SQ used to operate daily SIN-TPE-LAX). Who knows, Scoot might make use of these rights to launch more US flights?
