  • SQ to get its first (ex-SilkAir) B737 in Q1 2021

The transfer of B737s from SilkAir to Singapore Airlines (inc SQ livery) begins in Q1 2021, although they may not be upgraded with the promised flatbed business class seats at the time of handover.

SQ seem to be bad at refitting cabin products!

One possibility I raised in another forum for their being coy about the cabin product on the 737 is that they may not (yet) have worked out what the long-term plans are for them given the uncertainty posed by the pandemic, as well as that surrounding the 737MAX fleet at the moment.

As such, they may not want to commit to anything until the fleet review is complete and they have better clarity of their future direction.

On SIA fleet, there are already 12 737s listed in its inventory for a few weeks now. And SQ should have planned and decided the business class seats and IFE for EY for these 737s and refit these planes during this current downtime as it takes a few weeks/months to refit just one plane, so that when they are able to fly next year, it wont have to be taken out of service to be refitted. And not forgetting to repaint these planes from Silkair to SIA colours.

I would figure the narrow body aircraft will be important as many routes will be thin in the coming months.

They need to quickly get the 737s inducted.

There is already one brand new 737 painted in SIA colors at Boeing in Seattle awaiting delivery for the past few months.

Being a MAX they can't use it.

Sorry lost track of the aircraft registrations.

                        MGA is a 737-8?

Yep the 9V-MG? series are (Silk Air's) Boeing 737-8SA.

From memory I think the MB? series are the Max-8's...

It should be the same as the first Boeing built Max and painted for in SIA livery but yet to be delivered.
