    • Now even Air Canada who wll be taking over 4 ex-SIA A330s, will keep its business class and sell them as Premuim economy for 6 months.

        • STC is doing some circuit flying from JHB as SQ 8871. Wonder which airline it will be flyging for soon.

Thai AirAsia X is operating HS-XTI (ex 9V-STA) in the SQ seat configuration in the meantime while awaiting retrofit. Aircraft mainly operates the DMK-NGO route with some DMK-CTS thrown in (the aircraft operated DMK-CTS on the days before and after I flew on the flight). Worth it if you are able to score a cheap LCC ticket on the aircraft.

I think Brussels Airlines again, they are retiring 3 A333 this year, one (OO-SFN) flew off to desert to be scrapped. These three are first few A333 made.

Apparently STC is still in service though. Maybe have to wait until the regional A350 to arrive first

                • Apparently 9V-STT is out. The first one withdrawn from the 2nd batch of A330s.

                    Wow wasn’t expecting that?
Meanwhile STO which has for the longest time been due for Brussels airlines is still flying strong.

                    • seems the younger A330s are leaving the fleet than the oldest as STC is already 10 years old and still flying with SQ along with STO, STQ and STR which are all over 8 years old.

                      • The new batch (STT onwards) are on 6-year leases I believe. With the ongoing delivery of the 787s and A359Rs, SQ probably has decided not to renew the leases on this batch. STT was delivered in March 2013 and STU (which also has not been flying for the last 2 weeks) in April, which explains why they're being stored.

SQ extended the leases on some of the earlier batch, so probably that's why 4* of them are still flying.

                        * Maybe just 3 as STC is also "resting".

                        • Are the SS* birds also on 6 year leases? (Latest being 9V-SSH, delivered in 2015)

The newer batch of 15 A330s are STT to SSI (there is no distinction between the SS* and ST* series). Reading the cryptic notes in SQ's annual report, I believe they are on 8 year leases with options to terminate up to 2 years before expiry.

Yeah, but STU is part of the new A330 batch that was delivered in 2013 so that makes sense on why. The newest A330's could be the last to go in 2021, given that they were delivered in 2015.
