They must have plenty more sets though. They took out 16 77Ws worth and have only used just over half of them I'd reckon. The effort of getting the ones in SQK back out wouldn't be worth it.

They seem to have gone cold on the idea of refitting, but at some point they won't want the hassle of preparing two separate Krisworld libraries ever single month. They could just have one catalogue instead of a second "old 777" selection.

Just saw SQK's nose portion as she was moved to make way in the hanger for a Russian 777. The burnt skin is still there. Looks like no attempt at repairs so far.. Both engines are still fitted.. So it doesn't look like the aircraft is being parted either.

It just looks like SQ is sitting on the repairs and shuffling the old girl about the hanger.

in SQ's recent FY briefing for the fleet, "1x 772" was mentioned to have left the fleet recently. SQK is the only candidate for it since SRL was accounted for differently.

however, if you're saying engines still fitted...and still sitting in the hangar with the titles until now... that's strange. also last heard that SQK was sitting at a remote bay. so what's it doing inside the hangar?

but im pretty sure if there was an intention to repair a 15 year old 772, they'd have done it by now. it's been 7 months since the incident.

Can an aircraft be parted out and scrapped at SIN? Usually such activities are done at a boneyard such as VCV etc. Of course the dilemma is that they have to fix the aircraft before flying it to a boneyard

N279SG (former 9V-JEA of Jett8 Airlines) was scrapped at Changi back in 2015.

SQK is confirm to be scrapped but location is still unknown. As why she is still around in the hangars, it’s because after the incident, SIA decided to robbed spares or parts from SQK for other 777 in the fleet. When the management did make the decision to scrapped it, the insurers says all parts must be restored to the aircraft before the insurers will pay for the aircraft and scrap it. Thats the reason why SQK is still around.

The golden bird logo on the tail fin has been painted over with blue paint.

I think that's the beginning of the end.

but yeah will be interesting to see an SQ aircraft being taken apart at changi.
i believe the Jett8 747s are merely stored and have not been broken up?

Its at the West cargo apron. Bay 513 there abouts.

Its parked sans logos and titles. Only the blue and gold stripes remain. Both engines attached.

would this count as a hull loss?

Yes. From SQ’s FY2017/18 Annual Report:

In addition, an impairment loss of $26.4 million was recognised on one Boeing 777-200 damaged beyond economic repair. The damage costs are recoverable through insurance.

SQK is visible as you drive from changi village towards airport cargo. She's parked tail in and you can still see the burnt portion of the fuselage near the nose.

Beside Parking Bay 517, off the apron. Aircraft is also supported by jacks.
