Why ? The Indian aviation landscape is littered with the carcasses of many companies went bust. This is the last thing they need.

Exactly. They are notorious for their unions and have been bleeding heavily for ages.

How about the engineering and ground handling unit?

Hope SQ have learnt about India's aviation and wont make the costly mistake of bidding for of AI Express and AirAsia India and even worse for Air India. Even SQ's jv airline Vistara is not going that well.
