The best of Malaysia. For the world to see.

This clearly is not doing Malaysia's image any good at all. While one has to sympathise with them to a point with this being such a bewildering situation, they are now having to deal with media they don't totally control like they do domestically, and they don't know how to handle it. I heard this morning that the (acting (where's is the full time one BTW, ?) ) Transport Minister is Najib's cousin. I didn't know that, but it comes as no surprise and sums Malaysian politics up perfectly. Normally anyone who challenges them gets stuck in jail (or worse...) on trumped up charges like they did last week. Again.

This is all a shame, as there is widebody aircraft still missing with 239 human beings on board.

Just going off the information gleaned from the press conference a short while ago, I suspect (and I could easily be wrong here) that the reason there has been delays in confirming things is that there may not have actually been anyone from the Malaysian Military monitoring the skies at that time and they have had to go in to view recordings to see if they can see what happened. If MH370 did turn well off its intended course yet no RMAF fighters were scrambled, this would explain why. It would also explain why Malaysia has been cagey about this as it is basically telling everyone they don't bother monitoring their skies for any threats at that time of night.

As (slightly) embarassing as that undoubtedly is, I am afraid that now comes a very distant second to coming clean about everything and helping to find this aircraft.

It's amazing how much different information there is on this matter. But it looks like a lot of it is just speculation. It could possibly be a hijacking but looks unlikely, and if the plane was faced with technical difficulties, how is it that the wreckage has not yet been found? So strange...

Chinese families of MH370 passengers fuming as MAS offers to bring them to KL but lands them in India instead

The families of the Chinese passengers on the missing MH370 flight have reached their boiling point, as a flight arranged by Malaysia Airlines to bring them to Kuala Lumpur messed up in transit and landed them in India instead.

I have no idea whether this is true or not; AsiaOne should be sufficiently reliable (I think), but it sounds a bit too ridiculous no?

This whole MH370 business just reminds me of this song:

Now an oil rigger said he told the M'sian and Vietnamese he saw the plane crash. Looks like he gave clear details from the look of the email.

50-70km away? Is that realistic? (Honest practical question - I don't know myself.)

What happened to MH370 has enough twists and turns to make into a Tom Clancy thriller if it wasn't so tragic. The knives are out at some US media here, but i feel that there's a dose of sensationalism added in to reel in audience.

Now WSJ says the plane could've flown for hours.

And I get p!ssed at the reporters (like at football press conferences) asking the same stupid questions over and over again so they can pick a hole in something that was said from one version to another. If the authorities and MH don't know what happened to the flight, what is there realistically to say except the same thing everyday....'We check here, here, here and here. We saw dome debris/rubbish and are checking. Sorry the debris we saw was not related.'

                              Sadly it gets monotonous.

With the Chinese, Vietnamese and Americans now also coming out with comments and news it makes it even more confusing that it even was a day or two ago.
