    Cheap hotel in Singapore
    « Thread started on: Nov 1st, 2006, 03:00am »
    Hi
I have a couple of friends going to Singapore at the end of next month. Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel preferably near Orchard Road but anywhere reasonably central will do. They do not care about luxury a 2*or 3* hotel would be fine as long as it is clean and cheap.

    Thank you

The Copthorne Orchid Hotel on Dunearn Rd can be had for under SGD150. It's about 10 mins by bus to Orchard Rd. I've never stayed there before but I've sent people there - no complaints thus far.

How about the YMCA on Orchard Road (across the road from Dhoby Ghaut MRT) ? Prices here:

I stayed there about 10 years ago and it was perfectly fine - clean with your own room and ensuite bathroom.

Not sure of your definition of cheap but if say <S$100, try the Hotel81 chain.
The one in Chinatown is well located. MRT is just 2-3mins walk away

I forgot about the places along Bencoolen St!

I've never come across any (whilst in the area strictly for durians and coconuts!) but are there any long stay guest houses amongst the lorongs of Geylang ?

I would say the hotel 81 chains in Geylang still have that sleazy feel and would not be a good idea for a long term stay, however, the hotel 81 on Bencoolen is a pretty nice hotel.

If they are one of those late bookers, they can get the hotel accomodation booklet at Changi airport.

Someone mentioned that the Furama Riverfront is an affordable budget one. Not sure though.

      hi jpb,

tell your friends to have a look at www.asiarooms.com it's quite a good site to find hotels according to one's budget and location in town.
