I tried Jakarta T3 for the first time earlier this week. I flew up to JKT on SQ on Thursday evening, and returned to SIN yesterday.

My flight landed in the early evening. We parked at an aerobridge gate in T3 after a long taxi.

T3 is a large modern terminal, with graceful curves and a lot of glass and metal.

Once off the plane, there was quite a bit of walking compared to the previous terminal, about similar to how far you need to walk in the new Mumbai or Delhi terminals, for example.

The arrival area began with a walk down a fairly narrow corridor, but eventually we reached the main walkway which was more spacious, although overall the airside arrival area seemed a little dimly lit.

The immigration hall was massive compared to the previous one, which should help with crowds, assuming the counters are fully manned. When i arrived, the hall was quite empty, so I cleared immigration very quickly.

Large baggage claim area...

There was a cluster of transport counters just outside the hall, after customs, before the main pick-up area. That was where I booked my Golden Bird car transfer to my hotel. From the Golden Bird counter, I was escorted via a separate exit to the driveway.

This is the map of T3.

Overall quite a smooth arrival experience, although, as mentioned, there is more walking than at the previous terminal.

The JKT T3 Departure experience was good as well...

A large airy departure hall...

...with many eating options both landside and airside.

Rather than security at the gate, there is now a centralised security area before the immigration counters.

The airside area...

SQ*G pax were invited to use the Plaza Premium Lounge, but I didn't have time for that, and headed straight to the gate to board my flight.

Overall, I thought the departure experience at T3 was great. I preferred the departure area, which was bright and lively, to the arrival area, which seemed a little drab by comparison.

I think I will miss the old terminal just a little: I liked the low-rise architecture with ethnic design touches and tropical theme, with indoor gardens. But it was just bursting at the seams.

I haven't tried T3 at peak periods yet, so I don't know if the extra space helps when the terminal gets busy, but at least on my first trip, the off-peak travel experience does seem to be an overall improvement compared to the old SQ terminal at JKT.

How much time should one give between an SQ arrival and a domestic GA flight departure at CGK T3 at midday?

Also, domestic GA arrival to SQ departure in the late evening?

the problem with this SQ arrival and domestic GA flight is the baggage delivery time. usually it will need around 30 minutes wait just for the first baggage to roll out.
