This is a 2pm flight whereby almost all passengers wouldnít be sleeping in the first 6 to 8 hours. It must be unbearably bored starring at the ceiling. Itís surprising that sq didnít have another 777w within 2 hours for replacement. And the return leg as 325 also had the IFE down?

SQ5xxx flight numbers are codeshare flights operated by SilkAir.

Basically any 4 digit numerical number on the flight number is a code share flight ie if its a SQ5100 its basically uses another airline aircraft for that flight and not on SQ metal itself. However 4 digit numbers for SQ can also be for SIA Cargo flights.

Ah, threw me off for a moment there, given that the practice on this thread seems to be to use the MI/TR flight numbers directly if they need to be mentioned here.

From the news report, apparently the call was made when the plane was airborne and midway to its flight. Interestingly the plane did not divert to the nearest airport because of the bomb threat but instead fly all the way back to Changi. How do they determine that it was a hoax?

According to the police, they receive the report at 5.48am. So at that time the plane is around 1hr plus away from Changi. So maybe they just decide to land in Changi instead since it is SQ home base.

Interesting because Strauts Tines mentioned "Preliminary checks showed that the airline had received a call after the plane left Mumbai's airport on Monday at about 11.35pm local time. The caller claimed that there was a bomb on the plane." Later it mentioned as the plane was about to arrive in Changi "The police were alerted about the threat at about 5.48 am, a spokesman said." And the plane landed at 8am. That meant the plane was still flying for more than 2 hours before it landed and when the local police was notified but however it also suggested that SIA was informed about the bomb threat shortly after the plane took off.

9V-SGE is still stranded at EWR, i thought the replacement of the engine cowl can take place quicker as she is in American soil, where the parts can be easily transported?

The ST article seem to imply that the call was receive almost immediately after plane depart at 1135pm local time. But *** think that was the case. CNA article did not mention that the call was receive shortly after take off.

Most likely that the call was receive shortly before 5.48am.
Although the plane land 2 hours later , the actual time should be around 1 hr 15 mins or so. Cos if you look at the flight path from FR24, the plane was doing big round
Normal flight time is around 4 h 40 mins. Today flight is around 5h 40 mins
