  • Argument over phone causes Jetstar SIN-DRW flight to return to gate

If this happened to you, would you:

    1. Do nothing.
    2. Tell the passenger to turn off the phone.
    3. Inform the cabin crew, and let them enforce the rules.

I have faced this dilemma on several occasions, not so often about phones, but often regarding hand luggage not properly stowed.

I think 3 is always the best option.

Yes, agree but it'll be tantamount to 2, if you're sitting next to the offender.

That's true. But if the offender confronts you and makes a scene, but I don't respond and flag a crew down to complain that he is difficult, then he gets offloaded, not me.

[...] A 55-year-old man, believed to be Filipino-Australian, told his neighbour, a 47-year-old Australian man, that he should turn off his phone.

The pair of them, along with the 55-year-old's wife, got into a heated argument, and the cabin crew told them that they would have to alight from the plane if they did not resolve their dispute.

The police were called in when the quarrel escalated. The situation was further exacerbated when another passenger thought she heard one of the men say the word "bomb".

However, she was the only one who appeared to have heard the word. There was, in fact, no bomb.
          lol!

3 would be the best option as I simply wouldn't want to get into a confrontation mode with the passenger directly. 1 if I was engaged on my phone and maybe listening to some music
