However do feel that its a very expensive way to have a more han US$310 million aircaft to be use as a spare plane, as the US direct routes are not really very profitable flights if at all just abit above its breakeven costs.
As per FlightRadar24's history, she was never flown elsewhere since her delivery, so it must be an expensive asset to be idle or for ground training vehicle.

i suspect delivered ahead of schedule and therefore it's gotta be to do with the accounting books.

Do you have further details around this?

        • 9V-SHD flew her 1st CAF earlier today.
          Delivery is imminent

Parts for the 41st A350 have also been spotted at XFW. That could be SMx or SHx series

A total of 4 A350-900 Regionals will be delivered in FY 2018/2019, though only 3 will go into service by 31 March 2019. This is according to the SIA Investor Relation Financial Results 2017-2018 (Page 5).

With 9V-SHA, 9V-SHB and 9V-SHC already delivered and 9V-SHD due this weekend, 4 A350-900 Regionals will have been delivered by 31 March 2019. Only 9V-SHD will not enter service in FY 2018/2019.

So if 9V-SHD is not going into service until 1 April, will she just be parked at Changi for the next four weeks and slowly depreciate?

                      • Yes it be a real waste of a $300 million asset to leave it idle for few weeks - very poor financial judgement if that is the case, as it would have been paid the downpayment and first installment.

Think will just act as a spare for these 4 week to cover for SHA/SHB/SHC. SQ236 to Brisbane will be getting the regional A350 from 31/3.

                            • What are people's thoughts on SQ265/266? I'm booked to do both in Jan, partly because they're the most conducive to flying with a baby, partly because that was available for redemption on the preferred dates.

Currently showing 772. What are the chances of a change to A359 or another aircraft by then?

I'd rate it as having a good chance. It's possible it could get the long haul A359 even as the timing of the flight pair matches with the long haul rotation gaps.
