  • Many SQ flights were delayed anywhere between 2 hours and several hours. SQ318 and SQ866 departed late, but SQ326 managed to get out on time. SQ494 actually got delayed 7 hours and made it back only yesterday afternoon at 1pm. Evening flights were delayed for at least 2 hours, SQ2 only left around 8:30PM and made it back to SFO only at 9PM, with still a 2 hour turnaround.

Obviously the incident had caused runway congestion due to what happened at the airshow.

    • SQ 001 (SFO-HKG-SIN) has been operating as SQ 601 from Feb 6-8 with an earlier departure time in SFO and HKG. Anyone know what's happening?

Retimed to avoid airspace closures in SIN cos of the airshow. Renumbered not sure why.

To avoid the confusion of having two SQ1s operating on the same day.

Yup. Wednesday's SQ2 aircraft will turn back as SQ1. However, SQ601 will operate the following days according to FR24: 8th and 9th Feb ex-SFO besides the past 2 days.

Similarly, CX is the only other airline that in which when the Northern Summer schedule ends, they have CX2873 the first night then the rest of the nights they have CX873, and when Summer schedule comes at the end of Mar, the next 873 flight will only operate on Monday early morning (past midnight SFO time) to similarly avoid having two CX873s

            • Also FR24, iChangi and SQ's site/app retimed the schedules for flights departing between 11-2pm (It showed On Schedule rather than delayed). Not something I've seen occur often for flights.

UPDATE: 9V-SQN is currently en-route to MDL as SQ8850 to pick up the stranded passengers.
The Aviation Herald picked up on this incident with a picture of the damage to engine #1:

                  • Looks pretty bad damage to the engine with the blade separation. Believed as there are limited facility at Mandalay airport that SIA needs to ferry an engine there too to replace the damage one and fly it back for repairs.

                    • I wonder what caused this........thankfully engine casings have Kevlar which prevents the broken blades from penetrating the fuselage.

The A350 is unlikely to be known for its reliability if things don't improve. The B77Ws don't seem to have anywhere near as many technical faults.

The A380's have had their fair share as well. But I agree with SQ228, even with the recent deliveries they still seem to occur.

If you look at the facts, the A350 introduction and ramp up has been pretty amazing. Across all operators.
