An option is to post them on Flickr.com and then link them here.

The Beginning: Singapore Airlines SQ15. I have taken this flight on a 747 in late 2000 came back January 2001.

Thereafter, I have always taken the night flight (SQ1) when it was operated by a 747, and two times operated by the 77W (The older one, now operated by a 77WN which I wish I could have done).

Moreover, I wanted to try out the afternoon flight and longer layover for a change just to explore Singapore City.

Wingview Upon pushback and after safety video from SFO's Gate G96:

Seat is 34A, my mom's seat was 34B (She came with me while going, and I came back alone while coming back and she's coming back on July 13th, but my dad stayed back in the US this trip around), and we pushed back around 2:10pm, because of other aircraft next to us departing. This caused runway traffic. Pilot said flight time would be 11 hours and 15 minutes to Incheon, but due to runway congestion, we ended up landing at Seoul at 6:30pm, taxiing to the gate at 6:40pm (On schedule).

As far as the load goes, the first sector, all seats were packed in Economy. Service-wise, flight stewardesses did a great job serving drinks every now and then, and very attentive to detail at all times. When my mother lost her glasses, and I was looking for them under seats, the flight attendant saw what happened, and offered to help find her glasses, and pointed out where the glasses were. Big thanks to her (Sorry I don't know her name).

The 77W cabin (Old longhaul) sometime before lunch service:

First Meal (Lunch from San Francisco to Seoul)

Menu Reference to the meal I had chosen because through all sectors (going and coming back), my preference (as well as my mom's) was Indian Vegetarian

Meal was excellent overall. As always I do go light usually on long haul flights so I don't get sick or anything, but the meal was excellent.

New Singapore Airlines KrisWorld interface (Notice the difference compared to the last trip I took with Singapore Airlines):

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmm5yuMe2YE (Crusing from SFO-ICN)

As this was an afternoon flight, the flight attendants would ask you to close your window shades sometime after lunch service as people wanted to sleep.

However, it doesn't make sense since it's technically still evening in SF, and obviously most people including myself don't fall asleep past 12 or 1am (most cases). I only got 2 hours sleep from SFO-ICN (My mom got about 6 hours), so I occupied myself to listening to music from my iPod and accessing Singapore Airlines' KrisWorld Entertainment System.

However, after a little bit of sleep, I woke up to light meal service before touchdown to Incheon.

Menu of the meal I had chosen (Indian selection) and the meal itself:

As pilot noted, we'd be touching ahead of schedule, but still around 6:30pm by the time we landed, and 6:40pm by the time we got to the gate.

Transit stop at Seoul Incheon Airport (1 hour required in each direction (whether you're coming from SFO or from Singapore):

9V-SWE (Boeing 777-300ER which we came from SFO at Seoul-Incheon):

          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second Leg (Incheon to Singapore) on SQ15 (same aircraft 9V-SWE Boeing 777-300ER continuing from San Francisco):

Boarding the SQ 77W at Seoul:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIldKgOHw3I (Boarding at Incheon)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ungmCCGL4Iw (GE90 startup and safety video at Incheon before departing for Singapore)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPvfnF9a8m4 (77W take off at Incheon for Singapore)

I was very tired on this leg, and as far as load goes, very lighter than usual, most people had 3 seats to themselves, my mom and I had a seat empty, so we took turns every 2 hours sleeping (First 2 hours after the meal my mom slept, and the last 2 I slept, and woke up just 40 minutes before the pilot's announcement and landing):

Same seat 34A, wingview (Before pushback and pilot's announcement after settling into my seat):

Our scheduled departure was 7:40PM (Aircraft did not come late from SFO), however, we departed around 8:05PM probably because of traffic towards the runway and planes behind us, but flight time announced by pilot was 5 hours and 45 minutes, but by the time we reached the runway it was around 8:30pm, and landed around 1:00am, and got a gate available around 1:10am, arrived at gate B6.

Meal service 40 minutes after takeoff:

As always, Indian vegetarian meal as follows:

Menu corresponding to the meal (below):

          Meal:

Overall, food was excellent on this sector as well. Pretty much the same meal like we had from SFO. Service was excellent as well.

Ice cream (Cledor Red Carpet Cheesecake):

Not sure why I didn't get this last time from ICN to SFO (August 2012), and only in November 2010, but I'm glad when I got it again and this time both ways:

Excellent ice cream as well. I wish I could buy this from somewhere (other than Korea lol, this ice cream is too good).

KrisWorld Map from Seoul to Singapore (Not sure what that yellow z coordinate line is, because I didn't see this while going back from Singapore to Seoul):

Later as mentioned came the pilot's announcement 30 minutes to landing, and we touched down around 1am, and got a gate around 1:15am (Gate B7, which the same aircraft made another turn around for Seoul and San Francisco and vice versa the same morning we reached (Sunday, June 14th, 2015).

            Arrival to Singapore (Terminal 3):

Due to no availability at the Ambassador Transit Hotel at Changi Terminal 3 (They said we had to wait until 9:30am), we settled to sleep and hang around in the transit lounge, which was very nice. Can't wait to eventually be Gold so I have access to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge:

Ambassador Transit Lounge at Terminal 3:

Overall, as far as rest goes, nice, but not the best way, especially when you plan to spend a good portion of the day in the City before your next flight at 8pm, nonetheless, I did use their free wifi at the airport and the lounge, which worked perfectly well.

            Singapore City:

Singapore Flyer (Looks a lot like the London Eye) which can take you to the top to see panoramic views of the City:

View of Singapore from the Flyer itself:

            Gardens of the Bay:

            Waterfall at the Flower Dome:

Little India stopover for lunch en-route back to Changi Terminal 3 (Next SilkAir flight to Trivandrum would depart from Terminal 2, but T3 is such a nice terminal to hang out around instead):

              Back at Changi Terminal 3.

As mentioned, I got to view the Premium Economy Class seat demo Singapore Airlines was mentioning about. As they said, based on where you're departing from it will be 30% more of the fare of regular Economy class. However, I did try it out to see how it felt for a few minutes as well as my mom. We liked it. The flight stewardess who was holding this event stated this (along with the 2013 products) will be on the San Francisco route via Seoul-Incheon by January 2016. Hopefully by next Summer (Assuming August 2016 it will be daily and not 2 weekly):

As far as the screen goes very nice and big, and the remote is almost like Emirates' style I encountered on their A380 back in Dec/Jan. Lots of legroom, like the couch-style seat, tray tables bigger, and so on. Hope to really try it longhaul when I have a Gold membership in the future:

              Pictures:

              Singapore's 50th Anniversary at Terminal 3:

Going to Terminal 2, the beautiful gardens I've always taken pictures of ever since I was a baby. Brings me back tons of memories:

Gate F36 (Flight on SilkAir's A319-100 to Trivandrum):

Not too many pictures because 1) It was an all nighttime flight, 2) I was very tired on this leg, got more sleep but still ate food.

              Food:

Unfortunately, compared to Singapore Airlines (Yes, I've flown regionally with them to Chennai and Delhi), they don't give a menu. Service was good, but boring without PTV's and such. Wish Singapore Airlines did fly to Trivandrum at least a few days a week (If that would help in a way).

                RETURN SECTOR (July 23rd/24th, 2015):

Includes MI491 and SQ16 (Mostly separate posts):

                MI491 (TRV-SIN):

Departure from Trivandrum on SilkAir's A319 (9V-SBH). This was my first time flying alone, and as much as people believe it's scary (In a way yes, but I was very excited):

Picture of Trivandrum Airport in India:

Only took this picture because I was surfing on my phone's (works only in the US) internet browser after a 1 week of no internet.

However, here's a picture of SilkAir's A319-100 reg. 9V-SBH at Gate 3 before departure for Singapore:

Keep in mind the past 4-5 times I've taken Singapore Airlines, coming back always on SilkAir on this route. I'll admit it's boring, but what had to be done was mostly convenience based. As stated, I wish Singapore Airlines would fly one of their widebody aircraft to Trivandrum (preferably a Boeing 777-200/300 regional like they do to Bangalore). If Emirates can fly their A330 and 777-200, Singapore can do the same thing.

Having said that, aircraft came at about 9:30pm, and boarding commenced around 10:05pm. A quick smooth boarding into the jet aerobridge. My assigned seat was initially 9A, but once I got there, unfortunately the person sitting on 9B, moved to 9A, and made me sit on 9B instead. I was very disappointed, but I dealt with what I could. Either way it was dark so I slept most of the time after meals before pilot made an announcement (I am more comfortable sleeping on the window seats as I put my pillow on the window and sleep like I would normally on a plane longhaul or shorthaul), but seeing this case, not too happy with).

Departure (scheduled at 10:40pm), I believe we departed around 10:20pm and made a quick way to the runway around 10:30pm. We landed into Singapore around 5:20am and got to the gate around 5:40am.

                Food on SilkAir:

Not sure what it was, but this was very mediocre, only ate little of the main course, and ate the roll (served later) and dessert.

                Cabin during meal time:

However, there was turbulence as we hit the Bay of Bengal, besides I never got up anyways.

After landing (as mentioned above), we landed at Terminal 2, right away as I got out of the plane, I immediately proceeded into Terminal 3 to check email, lounge around with Wifi, send an email to my father stating that I'd reach next day afternoon (It was Tuesday in SF) so he can pick me up, and had a good cappuccino at Costa Coffee. Later on, I proceeded to gate A14 for my flight SQ16 to San Francisco via Seoul.

NOTE: Initially I wanted to change both flights to SQ1/2, not for the new seats, but because of the MERS problem that has been going on in Korea (Yes, it's worrying but as a transit passenger, I don't see a problem). The only reason I couldn't was because I had booked from a travel agent in March and I would have to pay change fees (which I didn't want to do), and hearing as it was slowly spreading to Hong Kong, I didn't bother taking a chance and wanted to leave everything as is, besides I wanted to reach SFO by afternoon. Had I changed it, I honestly don't know what to do in Singapore alone given I'm 22 and mostly go to places like these with my parents (or mom sometimes).

                  Thanks for the report.

It's interesting to note that these flights have dedicated Indian menu although one way of this journey has horrible connection to India.

You're welcome, but I am not done yet. And can you explain what you mean by "horrible connection"? Some cities in India like Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai offer good connections meaning better flight timings out of Singapore.

                    Continuation of TR:

Singapore Changi Terminal 3 (Next departing flight Singapore Airlines flight SQ16 to San Francisco via Seoul-Incheon):

As Changi is known as a First Class Airport (style-wise), it's rated #1 according to World's Best Airports. More than that, they maintain everything, keep everything clean and so on. I like how in many places (garden, bathrooms) they have a rating (Good morning, afternoon, evening), please rate...

As far as my rating goes, my rating is always excellent. Wish Indian airports (Other than Delhi and Bangalore) had things like these (Preferably Chennai, Trivandrum, and Kolkata in the future):

Singapore Terminal 3 Departure Board (My flight is SQ16):

NOTE: 9V-SKS (A Singapore Airlines A380-800 departs for Narita/LAX very close but not next to our gate for our Boeing 777-300ER 9V-SWS). Luckily I snapped a pic as well before I headed to my gate. And while taxiing for takeoff, we also passed by the A380. It's a pity that the A380 is not getting new seats. I like the Boeing 777-300ER however better (I've been on Emirates' A380 so I know how it's like now) as I am used to flying that now. Looking forward to my next SQ trip with the newest seats. I hope they keep the 77W on both SFO routes for another 10-15 years.

Proceeding to Gate A13 for boarding around 8:25am as the gate for security has opened. I like Changi Airport because of this reason. Wish all other airports were like this. No wonder it deserves #1 in their ranking (Singapore Airlines is rated #2, but I would rate it as #1 IMHO).

For a number of reasons, Changi had a pretty bad viewing for a Boeing 777-300ER, so no picture of that here. I have the picture however at Seoul

Next post more details about SQ16 (Singapore - Seoul sector) which I will detail about much later.

First leg of the return trip. Seat is 52K (Almost identical to 51K I had last time, was hoping to be somewhere on the left, but despite checking in early with plenty of window seats available, I thought of avoiding the noisier (with "white noise") part of the aircraft and decided to sit towards the back. Unfortunately all window seats were occupied on the left and what was left was 52K and a few others.

As far as the flight goes, very lightly loaded on the Boeing 777-300ER both ways in Economy class. Some people even had 3 seats to themselves all the way to SFO (Unfortunately not me, because I had 1 extra seat next to me and someone else was sitting on the aisle seat (52H), wish I had 3 seats to myself sleeping wise).

Pilot made an announcement 15 minutes prior to departure stating our flight to Incheon would be 6 hours and 5 minutes, and we will be cruising North and there will be times of turbulent weather.

Wingview at Changi from seat 52K. We were right next to another Boeing 777-300ER (9V-SWN), which is unfortunately not shown, but on one of my videos which I will link later on, we are next to that aircraft (Not sure where that's departing to from gate A14).

Afterwards, we took off at the end of the B-gates at Terminal 3 (Exact same runway like the last time I went in August 2010). In November 2010, I remember departing from one of the B gates and we took off from the end of the A-gates/runway.

Take off roll was smooth despite being #3 in line for take-off as pilot noted Changi is very busy at that hour (It was Wednesday, maybe it would have made a difference if we departed from the other end or if I had left on a Sunday lol).

Cabin service started with cool beverages. I opted for an apple juice at that time. Meals were not served until after 12PM Singapore time. Even though I didn't eat at Changi Airport, thankfully I wasn't hungry like anything. Had I been, I would have needed something.

Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER cabin before meal service began:

My meal and the menu corresponding with it (My option again Indian Vegetarian):

Meal was excellent. I ate the rice and the beans part of course...The beans was excellent by all means. Reminds me of how my mom and grandmother usually cook beans, except a little bit more spicier on SQ. I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I asked for a coffee to wash it down afterwards, and coffee was excellent.

The bread roll you see, I think that's a common thing if you're flying Singapore Airlines out of Singapore (Not SilkAir), makes me wish I would have had something better on SilkAir.

On this sector, no ice cream given. Was expecting it as I've always gotten it on the first and second sector.

                      KrisWorld map somewhere nearing Incheon:

As far as service went, very nice, attentive and cheerful flight attendants, always responded to requests for everything.

Later pilot made an announcement (A different one that said "A very good afternoon ladies and gentleman, boys and girls...." and more details about our descent into Seoul and later stating "...those of you continuing onto San Francisco, we wish you a safe journey ahead..." and so on.)

Seoul Incheon Airport (1 hour required transit halt) as is required when coming from SFO as well.

Incheon Airport itself after security screening:

Our Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER (9V-SWS) that I took from Singapore and am continuing onto SFO on this beautiful day in Seoul (All other times including the going sector, it was always either cloudy or raining):

Boarding commenced at 5:40pm at Gate 113 (Exactly same gate I departed when I had come from SFO and continuing onto Singapore).

Once boarding started, we were given a US Customs Form.

Even while going back, another difference I noticed at Incheon was at the gate they no longer do carry on extra carry on bag checks. Exploring Incheon itself during the 1 hour transit halt was nice. It's rated #2 on World's Best Airports, and I liked the shopping mall style, and heard there's a lot more (Wish my plane had landed 1 hour earlier from SFO so I could have seen more of it).

Singapore Airlines flight SQ16 (Seoul-Incheon (ICN) to San Francisco (SFO))

Once we began boarding, it was very smooth overall. Flight was still lightly loaded. I'm not sure why. Is it because of MERS, or is it because it's not peak season for coming back? Please fill me in. Anyway I still had 2 seats to myself, with the same person sitting on the aisle.

Very soon pilot made an announcement regarding our flight to San Francisco. His name was Sanjay and his accent was either British or Singaporean/British accent (Definitely nowhere close to American). He said our flight time to SFO will be 9 hours and 50 minutes (Definitely meant reaching by 12 noon) and did apologize for a 10 minute delay because the aircraft came late from Singapore. During the flight, there was turbulence as we hit Japan and went on for about 2.5-3 hours until we hit the Pacific Ocean. Nonetheless, I enjoyed a beautiful sunset exactly 1 hour after take off. (Take off at 6:23PM, sunset over Japan at 7:23PM).

Cruising into the sunset just 30 minutes after take off:

First time seeing one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen in my life when flying a Boeing 777-300ER:

Dinner followed by ice cream (As corresponded by a menu picture shortly as well):

As far as service went for the 1st meal, excellent as always, flight attendants and stewards are very responsive, polite, and always have a smile.

Main course was okay, I didn't eat much however. As far as the ice cream goes, I got the same Cledor Red Carpet Cheesecake Premium Ice Cream (Strawberry cheesecake) as I got on the ICN-SIN sector, and ICN-SFO sector back in November 2010 as mentioned before (Don't know why I didn't get that last time in August 2012?). Excellent ice cream, and I honestly wish I would get something like this in the United States or something. Too good, I swear.

Wanted to capture this for the last time, because initially this KrisWorld logo was used moreover for putting the entertainment system on hold before take-off and (sometimes landing). Most times never the case, and now it's always available for your use.

However, now they set this in such a way, this logo comes before you enter the entire system.

Once the meal service concluded and lights began turning off (around 5:15AM SF time or 9:15PM Korea Time (8:15PM Singapore time)), I got a 6 hours sleep, but woke up in the middle as I wanted to fill the US Customs and Immigration form (not shown). However, shown here is the sunrise I woke up to (It was 8:15AM US time, 12:15AM Korea Time, 11:15PM Singapore time):

Continued my remainder of my sleep for another 3 hours and woke up to the flight attendants serving a light meal/breakfast before landing into SFO close to 11AM:

My meal (and the menu corresponding it):

As you see the aloo bonda part (that's Indian vegetarian).

As far as the "before touchdown" service went, overall excellent as always. Always made sure I had what I needed. Washed this down with coffee as well as I needed the coffee to be alert at the airport and when my father picked me up.

In about 30 minutes from that point, around 11:35AM, the pilot (a different one) announced we'll be descending to SFO with sunny skies and a temperature of 19 degrees Celcius, or 66 degrees Fahrenheit. Our estimated arrival time would be around 12 noon.

We landed into SFO around 12:08pm and got into the gate no later than 12:20pm (15 minutes ahead of schedule). As I disembarked the aircraft, I went over to brush my teeth and freshen my face before taking care of customs and collecting lugguage then meeting my dad. Overall, had a great time flying alone as everything went smooth as planned.

Thank you for the report! Enjoyed it very much and made me very hungry. Haha!

Are you Malayali by any chance?

Yeah, because my parents are. And also many parts of my family are from Tamil Nadu (None of them live in Tamil Nadu, just a few other parts of India). My mother's side lives in Trivandrum which is why we took MI to Trivandrum. I mainly went for a religious pilgrimage to SabariMala, then spent the remainder of the trip with family. If my dad came with us, I would have come back from Chennai or Bangalore by Singapore Airlines itself. Moreover, besides English, my parents speak mainly Tamil (my mom speaks Malayalam as well) as well as Hindi and Bengali. I speak English, Tamil (understand most of it) and some Malayalam (I understand most of it at times). Don't know Hindi unfortunately.

And no problem. My pleasure for providing a trip report as well as some videos. I hope the next time I fly with Singapore Airlines (assuming August 2016 or earlier), I try out their newest Economy seats from SFO-SIN, assuming both ICN and HKG route have it on their 77W. I know ICN route is having it 2 weekly, but I hope it's on a daily basis by Summer.

I've been by Singapore Airlines multiple times for over 20+ years since I was a baby, so I know from experience they provide excellent service and meals are excellent (In almost all cases, they know how to make South Indian vegetarian food for passengers as my parents state). As a first time KrisFlyer member, I am blue, and have 20,000+ miles in my account. Hopefully I will achieve Silver Status next trip and maybe Gold Status 3rd trip with SQ and so on.

How about you? Are you Malayali too?
