For the last two flights, SQ is doing turnaround right? Instead of letting the crew stay overnight

        • With half the fleet being parked, there should not be a problem when one or two or more of its planes are AOGed especially in home base.

Probably to accommodate stranded pax, SQ860|18MAR (SIN-HKG) was operated by 9V-SCK a 787-10 instead of the original A359-LH.

            • SQ503|19MAR (BLR-SIN) originally operated by 9V-SHA is delayed as the aircraft AOG in BLR. 9V-SHO is currently being ferried as SQ8850 to BLR to rescue the stranded passengers.

                • SQ406|21MAR (SIN-DEL) and SQ424|21MAR (SIN-BOM) was downgauged to a B787 [9V-SCI] and A359-LH [9V-SML] respectively replacing the scheduled A380 in light of the ban on all international flights to India for a week.

Could they now be at a stage where the crew that flies over has a rest break and then flies back with the same plane so nobody is ever left stranded?

This plane was AOG-ed for SQ21 on 21 March. The passengers on that flight were moved to SQ21 on 22 March (based on status/class of travel as priority) and the rest offered other flights out of USA.

                          • SQ212|28APR (SYD-SIN) operated by 9V-SYJ AOG in SYG. Spare parts were sent to SYD via SQ7274.

                            • SQ326|19MAY (SIN-FRA) operated by 9V-SWF apparently flew through Bangladesh airspace without obtaining permission, with fighters "almost" being scrambled to intercept the Boeing 777.

Hear the exchange between ATC and the cockpit crew here:

                              • Interesting event and it seems the pilots were at a lost in finding the permission or file to fly through. Looks like a serious lapse by SQ flight control and wonder what would be the following up complaint by Bangladesh.
