  • SWI has hatched and is on an air-test as SQ8877 after 12 weeks of a retrofit, probably the longest a 77W has been out (It has been out since the start of the NW 18/19 schedule, 28OCT18).

    • Can anyone passing through Changi confirm mysterious sightings of large fragments of eggshell?

      • SWI is doing SQ237/228 to MEL. ExpertFlyer indicates the return has 4 First Class seats. FSJZ, please update when you get time.

Just pushing back from the gate next to SWI. No trace of any egg white or yolk. Still in Star Alliance livery.

Great to hear! Egg can be one of the hardest things to clean off.

              • Based on fleet plans as briefed in last year’s FY briefing, 6x 772ERs should leave the fleet by 31 March 2019.
However, only 4 of them have left so far (SVG SVI SVJ SVL).
SVM SVN should be leaving also but are still flying strong. Change in plans?

It's odd- they have 5 of them to cover so few flights, although it appears now that they have taken over one flight pair to MNL SQ916/21 off the 773 fleet. Even so, they now cover only a 4x weekly IST, daily BNE, PER & MNL between them and spend the remaining time sitting about. Backup plan for TR 787s maybe? They don't appear to covering for the regional 772s as much as they used to.

As of the 1H analyst briefing, SQ planned to only return one 777-200ER (which turned out to be SVJ) in the 2nd half of the 2018-2019 financial year.

However come Winter 2019/20 season, SV* routes will only be limited to IST and one daily each of BKK and BNE.

Interesting... 5 of them seem a little in excess then. Nothing else about the fleet changed (eg delay in deliveries) so I wonder what they’re keeping them longer for.

Yes, it's effectively an 8% growth in fleet size over 6 months. Even allowing for overlap and official dates and so forth, adding a net total of 9 planes isn't something we've seen recently.
