  • Clarification on the UK-Singapore & Canada-Singapore Air Agreements Recently

If I understood the following statement correctly from the UK-SG agreement:
(SIA) can now fly to any point in the UK, carry domestic passengers, and even base its planes in the country, using UK as a hub to operate to any other country.
and the fact that Singapore has also signed a bilateral one with Canada not long after, do these mean that SIA has the right to let's say launch a Singapore-Toronto flight via London with 5th freedom passenger rights between LHR & YYZ and also a have a 4th daily SIN-LHR flight at the same process under the same flight numbers?

Unfortunately not, no, because the Canadians have decided to impose protectionist and un-liberal constraints on airlines of the Republic of Singapore with regard to intermediate rights.

Singapore Airlines can fly a maximum of 6x weekly (3 each way) between ICN and Canada and also via Taipei. Taipei is not an attractive option.

They do have unlimited non-stop rights between SIN and any point in Canada, one must not forget this point.

They might try a YVR SIN YVR non-stop the other 8 times a week.....good on them if it works!

Fortunately for SQ, their 777-200ERs have good payload/range performance for SIN-YVR nonstop and vv. I think we may see this the other 4 days per week once SQ's capacity crunch is past.
