SIA ground subsidiary SATS who provides the tow tugs for SIA as well as some other airlines aircrafs fort push-backs should take a hard look into their procedures and training for the tow drivers as there have been few of such incidents involving its tow tugs and aircrafts hitting incidents such as even as aircraft hitting another wing wingtip etc. From the picture in the ST reports it showsthe tow is pushing the plane sideways so soon after start of push back as usually the plane is pushed back straight or even if its towed in straight to the aerobridge gate. There;s also the incident of the tow tug catching fire with the aircraft still engaged to it resulting in a total loss write up of the aircraft. SATS insurance rates must be very high.
