              Good to read that there'll be a full-fledged hotel next to Terminal 3. This should solve the headaches of those who need to do an overnight in Singapore yet don't want to head for town.

                CAAS has invited other airlines to move to T3. It is giving half a year of rental rebates to airlines willing to do the relocation.

                T3's Up, Now For The Tenants

                The bait would tempt any business: Move over, and you will not have to pay rent for six months.

                This is the proposition the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has laid before airlines, in a bid to lure them to the new Changi Airport Terminal 3 (T3) ahead of its first flights on Jan 9.

                ...
                I'm sure someone in CAAS has thought of grouping airlines within an alliance together in the same terminal. Perhaps that model won't work here, and it's entirely up to the airlines to decide where they wish to be housed.

                  I thought they will be moving to T2? *A website said that their operations will be all in one terminal next year, possibly T2. No idea yet.

                    Actually, rather than asking other airlines to move to T3, why don't SIA move their whole operation to T3? Let the T2 used by all star alliance members, silk air, and other non alliance airlines that have high frequency to SIN, eg. MH and GA comes to mind. While T1 can be used by oneworld, skyteam, and the rest.

                      That's strange. In today's news article, United Airlines is considering switching to T3. And till today, I'm still unsure why SQ wouldn't want to move all its operations to T3, but only long-haul ones.

                        SQ does want to move everything to T3 but they are being impeded by CAAS and their own corporate objectives.

                          Impeded by CAAS --> They want to reserve some slots for other airlines?
                          SQ's corporate objectives --> ?

                            SQ wants to move for obvious reasons.

                            CAAS has other corporate objectives namely that like many airports they are a shopping mall with a car park for planes. So if like SQ wants, they move to Terminal 3, who is going to frequent the shops at Terminal 2 who still have months if not years of rent left? Unfortunately, CAAS owns the airport so we have to deal with it.

                              if SQ moved all of their operations to T3, i don't think their T3 lounges would be able to accomodate all of the traffic from premium class flyers and PPS members.

                                Well, they can... If they really doing it properly. CX in HK has 2 and TG has several lounges in BKK, SQ can have 2 lounges in T3 too...
