  • How to insert picture? [TT#003]

    Hi all,

Probably this has been discussed before. Anyway, just wondering how do I insert a picture in this forum? When I clicked on the picture button, a message box appeared and asked me to enter a URL. How do you do that?

    Thanks so much.

    Heya Airlineslover,
to insert a certain pic, this one has to be located somewhere on the web (i.e. not on you remote computer).
If the pic is located somewhere on the web, retrieve the image address (aka as URL) where it's located and insert it when prompt to do so by website.

Please notice that you have to insert the IMAGE's URL, not the page's or site's address. (to be clear: the URL has to end with ".jpg" or ".bmp" or ".gif")

If you have a pic on your computer and you don't know where to upload it on the web you could upload on www.imagestation.com (registration required) or www.photobucket.com (registration required).... there are several websites offering free videos/pics hosting.

On the other side, if you think this will be the only pic you'll upload or you find this too difficult to do, please feel free to e-mail lukegt@sqtalk.com, attaching the pic and i'll do it fr you.

    Hope this helps.

There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

        TEST: PLEASE IGNORE

Please accept my apologies in advance but I'm going to use this post to test inserting a picture as I've been intrigued as to how it's done.

        Here goes nothing...

        http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...u/untitled.jpg

Well, that didn't work. I just got the link not the pic.

        Back to the drawing board.

To show the picture in the thread you need to put [img] before the link and [/img] after the link.

If you click on preview post before submitting you can see if it has worked.

              1. Using Photobucket : after you upload a photo, a small thumbnail of your photo is shown, along with 3 small lines below it, one of which is the URL line - just click on that and it will flash copied.
              2. Next post a reply here like what I am doing, and just right-click and paste where you want the photo to appear here.

iangoodwin, I think you have a space between the [img] bit and the link - try editing it to remove the space, and make sure you have the full url, as the one you show has been truncated with "..." in the middle. Hope this helps

I believe that the problem is that pictures may have been disabled in this folder thus the pictures do not show. Try again in another page.

in the prescribed manner and it displayed the pic in the post.

I thought this thread would be a low impact area in which to practice!

Many thanks to Lobster, uprightman, nickbot & (especially) SuperJonJon for your invaluable assistance.

Easy The method I know of is as follows:

                          1. Go into your Flickr photos and click on the pic you want to share
                          2. Click on the "All Sizes" button at the top of the pic
                          3. Scroll down to where it says "Grab the photo's URL:"
                          4. Copy the URL from this box and paste into SQTalk as per usual, between the [img] and [/img] tags

Technically speaking, Flickr Community Guidelines specify that if you post a Flickr photo on an external website, the photo must link back to its photo page, but not sure if this is really that necessary...

                          Hope this helps

... but why take the risk ? In order to comply with the Flickr rules:

In the "Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:" box, you'll find something like this:

                            <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/john_man/1345717929/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1068/...9580d614_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="08092007154" /></a>
You need to take the parts I've highlighted and rewrite it to this for your SQTalk post:

                            (Left square bracket here) url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/john_man/1345717929/]http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1068/...9580d614_b.jpg[/url]

And you'll end up with a photo which - if you click on it - takes you to the relevant Flickr page (so you comply with the Flickr rules).

Edit: not sure why it doesn't work now!

Thanks JHM, wasn't sure how to do that last bit!

EDIT I'm trying your method and can't get it to work (won't work in this folder anyhow, as per SuperJonJon's previous post, but am trying elsewhere)...
