      SQ828 was also delayed til 11am. I'm not sure if all SIN-PVG flights are affected, but Google weather shows it being dry there now. I think they got a heavy snowstorm like Tokyo did early this week.

      • SQ217 operated by 9V-SWM to MEL has been delayed 2.5 hours and is scheduled to arrive past midnight. I wonder if it's an equipment issue or something

        • it could possibly be delayed because of the air show rehearsals as since last thursday at around 1030am onwards the airspace was closed for awhile for the air forces rehearsals and actual flypast over the weekend and should be for the whole of this week.

            Makes sense. That also explains why some days SQ1 will instead be operated by SQ601 (departing SFO at 11:15PM and arriving at SIN 2 days later at 11AM rather than its usual noon arrival). SQ218 still did make it back to SIN on schedule.

                • and as a consequence of the delays and backlog;

                  SQ863/285 (9V-SKH) arrived and is departing from gate C23 in Terminal 1.
                  SQ918 was earlier allotted gate D42 but now New Gate E12.

                  even other airlines:
                  GA842/855 arrived and departed from gate C20 in Terminal 1.

                  • Probably unrelated to this afternoon's event to a certain extent, but SQ221|06FEB was originally scheduled to be operated by 9V-SKV, which would have been her first revenue service.

                    But SQ221's departure has been re-timed at least twice now; from 2040 to 2300 and now 0145 with a gate change (from B4 to B5) and SQ232 as corresponding arrival (which means 9V-SKU as operating aircraft).

                    • CAG issued a statement stating that 170 flights were delayed for at least an hour during the period of runway closure. Was just wondering had CAG considered basing these aerobatics jets at Paya Lebar airbase rather than Changi ?
                      Even if the risk factor of something like this happening was considered low, has CAG or CAAS considered opening Paya Lebar Airbase for commercial traffic to land in case of events like this ?

                      • even if not for this S Korean plane incident, there will be quite a few delays in a day from since last week to this coming sunday due to the air show acrobatic displays and the airspace around Changi will be closed 3 times daily from mid moring till afternoon. This happens everytime during the aerospace exhibition. On Paya Lebar airport, it does not look like an alternate airport for commercial planes, hence we see why commercial planes are diverted to Senai or Batam when needed.

                          Just a bit of trivia: back in December of 2011, an SQ 744F was involved in a runway excursion at Changi Airport, resulting in a runway closure. I recall some planes did divert to Paya Lebar airbase. A quick search on the interwebs turned up this article: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/accident-a...s-flights.html

                            UPDATE: 9V-SQN is currently en-route to MDL as SQ8850 to pick up the stranded passengers.

                              and just another (sad) trivia; that particular 744F (as TC-MCL) crashed as TK6491 on 16JAN17.

                                A year ago an SQ 777 was diverted to Paya Lebar Airport for whatever reason. https://twitter.com/airlivenet/statu...04019862061058
