  • CEO Goh said during today's financial report news conference that the 78Js are getting a 26% fuel productivity over the A333s!

    That's incredible.

I presume their definition of fuel productivity includes the fact that the 78Js are much denser than the A333s

    • Yes he did mentioned that. But then why is SQ keeping the older 772s of more than 15 years and using it to fly to regional destinations when even the A330s are more fuel efficient than the heavier medium to long haul 772s and also the higher landing fees penalty that the 772s have. Then SIA shoud have extended more A330s and retire the old 772 earlier instead.

The A330s are leased and unless the fuel savings can justify the leasing costs, it may be more economical to carry on operating the 777s which are owned and likely fully depreciated.

        • The A330s actually have the option to be extended especially those which are cominh to their 5 year lease. Not sure of its really economical to operate the heavier772s on regional routes as although they are depreciated but it does have higher maintenance costs and other associated like landing fees and inefficient fuel use, and that also contradicts the CEO words of saying that SIA keeps its aircraft "young" and use fuel efficient planes.

          • Might also be a product issue, since the old 77Es that are sticking around already have full flat beds, and the A330s only have angled flat.

Not worth it to put new regional J on the A330s if they're going to be around for a few years at best

                • SCO landed at Changi at 05:33 this morning. Fleet size is now up to 15 aircraft. No more deliveries expected until at least April next year. 9V-SCP will be the 1000th 787, so expect a sticker like SMF.

                      • This post from Boeing recently popped up on my Facebook page as a sponsored post, as part of Boeing's commemoration of the 787's first flight in 2009.

Finally good news for MAA. Been looking forward to this for a long time. Is it confirmed?

                          • Just imagine the 787 Dreamliner is 10 years old since its first commercial flight.
The main thing is hope its RR Ten engines are not giving any more problems for SIA from now.

                            • SQ has quietly further reduced their 787-10 order from a total backlog of 47 frames to 44. These frames on order were transferred to Scoot (+1 787-8 and +2 787-9), as reflected in the latest (Nov 2019) O&D page for the 787.

This leaves 29 787-10s to be delivered to SQ.
