  • One-way ticket to Japan?

    Hey guys,

This will be my first time travelling to Japan and I heard that any foreigner entering Japan requires a return or onward ticket. Is this regulation enforced strictly? If so, do they require both tickets to be from the same carrier?

    Thanks.

YMMV but in my trips to Japan I've never been asked at immigration to show evidence of my flight leaving Japan. I've entered and left on different tix and - as far as I rememebr - no airline flying me to Japan has asked for evidence of my flight departing Japan.

You will require the sme tix if you want to buy discounted domestic Japanese flight though:

You have to check TIMATIC to see whether it is a requirement. Plug in your details here: http://www.staralliance.com/en/servi...sa-and-health/

If it is stated as a requirement, I would not take the chance of not having it (especially as the check-in agent can refuse to check you in if you don't fulfill any entry criteria, including the return ticket). However, it does not need to be on the same carrier or on the same ticket.
