I guess what he means is that now the option to "Waitlist" has been removed. Not sure if that implies that too many people are on "Waitlist" so the option has been removed.
Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder.

So far my conclusion is like this:

      1. Waitlist = award seats not released, will be reviewed periodically and i guess the controller looks at the list 2-3 weeks before the flight, compare it with current revenue passengers and potential revenue passengers and manually release them based on the status of the waitlisted pax and the number released depends on how he assesses the load of the flight. May be computerised too, i am not sure. But somehow I feel there is a person behind all this, because my waitlist clears faster if i keep pressing for chasers to be sent.

      2. Available = what else but available for immediate ticketing

      3. Not Available = award seats already taken. Because when I check back after I issue my tickets, what was shown as "available" before became "not available".

Most routes in business class now only show waitlist status. And it will never appear as available far out or near. But the waitlist usually clears in the last 2 weeks. First class routes are easier to get availability especially very far out, or very near.

If it's shown as " not available", it does not mean that closer to date it will become "waitlist" or even "available" but don't have high hopes for it. Whenever I see "not available", it's time to go for Plan B

          Thanks for all the replied.

Yes, what I meant was when I waitlist the flight, it was already has a status "Waitlist". Yesterday, when I search the same flight, the status turn "Not Available".

Base on SQueeze reply, it is very unlikely my waitlist on that particular date will be successful.

Yesterday, I chanced upon a date from from CDG to SIN that is available (not a date that I waitlist though), I immediately confirm 2 tickets. After confirmed, the search flight status turn "waitlist". The system still allow award redemption to waitlist after 2 award tickets are confirmed. Looks like they release more than 2 award tickets per flight.

Now, I need to work on my Sin to FRA flight.

Should I confirm on SQ326 (Boeing 777-300ER) day flight while I waitlist SQ26 (Airbus Industrie A380-800)? Will this jeopardize the chance of the confirmation on SQ26 since I have already had a confirmed award redemption?

While these two flights use the same mileage, one is First class and the other Suite class. Will this change considered a cancellation of First class and a rebook of Suite class?

I have always found daytime F flights more enjoyable as you are awake and can enjoy the experience. Overnight, no matter how much you try and stay up you invariably start to drift off and it's not as much fun.

Of course once you have flown F a bit, overnights come into their own when you can actually ignore the service and just get a good night's rest.

Ok, so in this case didn't turn to 'not available' which I had encountered before. The award seats are only 2 number and you had taken them. Waitlist means no more award seats, SQ's wait and see. May be later.

Can't help you with your 2nd query though.

Yes, that's what I thought too. However, the general view (which I agree) that there is quite a difference between a Suite and First. So, to maximize the use of the same mileage, I hoping to get the Suite.

Second reason being the day flight will arrive Frankfurt at night close to 9pm. So, it is basically paying additional night for the hotel stay. Don't think can do much on day 1. The night flight will arrive at about 7am. Good time to start day 1 trip.

But I might have no choice as my night flight waitlist are still waitlist, while the day flight are wide open for most days.

Thanks gookia2000 for your reply. I have completed my Europe trip, enjoy it very much.

As I mentioned earlier, I gotten confirmation on CDG-SIN suites much earlier on. I was working hard on the SIN-FRA suites. Call up Krisflyer membership line. They told me (as pointed out by SQueeze) there are only 2 award seats for suites. The waitlist will not confirm unless someone cancel their confirmed award seats. And that also means someone else with higher priority didn't waitlist the same flight as you.

Thus, I gave up SIN-FRA suites and confirm SIN-ZRH suites instead. Next time, really need to plan and book earlier.

The first check-in was Ok. I arrived with a big limo cab/van. The ground air crew just stand in front of the door. No greeting. We just walk in to the first check-in ourselves alone, quietly. The check-in was done while seated, exclusively. The immigration was fast as it only serves the first/suites passengers.

                    After check-in,

"Do you know where the TPR is?"
                    "No"
"It is just after immigration. Take the escalation up to 2nd level."

Wasn't the same as I read in the travel blog. You were not lead to the TPR. We were left to figure out how to reach there, though not too difficult. Too bad, I came with high expectation after reading some travel blog.

The TPR is unique, exclusive but nothing to shout for. Just had a light meal as I know I will be given supper again as soon as I board the plane.

The experience in the SIN-ZRH suites was much better. As there were only 4 passengers, we were given full attention. Air crews were always there within reach, smiling, offering help. We had the book-the-cook meal.

The experience in the CDG-SIN suites was also good. But there were 7 passengers. The air crews were attentive, professional, friendly. No book-the-cook for Paris out-bound flight.

                      Thanks for sharing, Tony.

Your experience is typical. Not sure what blog you read, there has never been any escort to the TPR or to the plane with SQ. The TPR is very nicely furnished IMO, but it could do with a lot more facilities like nap room, better lounge chair for napping etc. Onboard service is a hit and miss depending on the morale of the crew but generally not bad in Suites. And when crew is a good team, even a 12/12 load is still very polished. My best flights in F and R are in -100%-loaded cabin. They were very motivated and were full of energy.

The onboard service in both First and Suites is usually flawless but it's very difficult for even the best crews to create the effortless elegance you can enjoy with a smaller number of passengers.

TPR staff has never been selected to meet SQ onboard standards and I think it's getting better now. Was in the TPR this morning and enjoyed a very nice service.

The Call Center is the weakest point though - and it's very sad that SQ is not doing anything to improve that.

Yeah, I've been given wrong info a few times. So I went to their Ion Reservation Center to sort it out.
