SIN-BKK (SQ 712/711) will swap to a 77W operation from 4 Jan, replacing 78X.

Although cargo is good but its better for SIA to use more cargo flights using its 747 which can carry up to 120 tins of cargo instead of using passenger aircrafts with belly hold of 14-16 tons only. The fuel costs alone for using passengers' planes to US is very substantial and considering SIA hedged and bought its fuel at a much higher price than what jet fuel have been in the last few months. And the pandemic in US is still very high now and could even be expected to be higher due to the Christmas and New Year break that could see US having its highest ever infection in January.
I'm as surprised that SQ is going daily to LAX, SFO and JFK, however I'm sure SQ knows exactly what they're doing with the data they're getting, the cargo they've carried or will carry. Who knows, maybe pharmaceutical companies have booked cargo space for shipping vaccines from the US to Singapore, South East Asia on SQ.

SQ is already utilizing their 747 freighters, all 7 of them, it's not like those are parked sitting idle while only passenger aircraft are carrying cargo. There's only so much they can squeeze out of their freighters, there's just not enough capacity when about half of all air cargo usually travels in the bellies of passenger aircraft and passenger flights are still far from pre-COVID levels, hence freighter aircraft alone is just not enough cargo capacity.

Wonder if SIA will temporarily stop its 2 daily flights to London in the interests of its crew , as have few European and even HK Cathay have done in view of the high infections and a new strain of the virus. Singapore have meantime ban UK travelers from coming into Changi.

Looks like SQ still maintaining the flights and the crew will still be staying 3 nights in the hotel before their next flight back. Still some risks.

It's good for SIA to get more 77Ws out of storage into flying status and as the 359s and 787s are doing alot of flying now.
