Singapore continuing to seek new travel bubble partners despite HK setback

    https://www.straitstimes.com/singapo...-hong-kong-ong

Looks like Australia, Brunei, China, New Zealand and Vietnam are possible countries that SG hopes to woo, but i don't think they are that keen to open up so soon for leisure travel.

Think our govt shoud not be overly too eager to open up as can see nowadays there's been quite a few imported cases daily for the past months. Even countries like Vietnam and Thailand, NZ and China which have almost no new cases are not so keen to open up as yet.

Most of these countries can have domestic tourism. Unlike Singapore.

It's just too bad that SG has no domestic "travel", but really...our country shouldn't go about trying to impress the world by being the "first to open up".

It quite pisses me off to know that these travel bubble ideas are in some sense vanity projects pushed through by certain ministers. What happened with HK was already a warning signal that it's still too early and risky.

Short term pain for long term gain. SG should focus on opening up domestically and remaining clean from Covid first.

            Sorry, just my thoughts

I thought pax from most of those places (Australia and NZ at least,)were already allowed to travel to Singapore now anyway ?.

As for how long to stay closed and/or when to reopen borders. That's the million dollar question, for everyone. Nobody want this virus to spread (or return in some cases) but the damage done by staying closed indefinitely also starts to build, especially for countries and industries that rely heavily on tourists and business visitors, like Singapore, Thailand etc.

Singapore now have unilaterally open up air links to allow Taiwanese to come in without quarantine, in addition to visitors from Australia, NZ, China and one of 2 more countries. But these are on Singapore side only and these countries have not opened up their borders to us.

Bringing to top on reports the day before it's formal announcement that the bubble is to be-inflated in May 26th.

I have fingers crossed for tripping in July, then, after the school holiday rush is over.

Depends on some conditions by then and nearer to the date.

There are a fair bit of requirements that need to take note if flying on the ABT to HKG.

                          https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/s...travel-bubble/

This is the new norm unlike in the past where we can just book an air ticket hours before the scheduled departure time, grab a cab to airport and off we go.

Four PCR tests, no quarantine and, again, Long-Term Pass Holders (EP/DP etc.) still need to apply to return to Singapore - no differences noted for residents vaccinated versus those not.

At the beginning stage the questions is....... vaccinate for what?

On this basis, it will be a long time before the benefit will be realised. Out of HK it is already realised, otherwise cannot leave at all.

If Singapore insist on vaccination, then a lot of ppl no need to go already. SG is now vaccinating those who aged 45-60 only. So anyone below 45 (unless they are in essential service) won’t be able to fly at all. Unlike HKG have already allow anyone aged 16 n above to go for vaccination (as their take up rate is very low).

Maybe not for the first few waves.

In any cases, the number of community cases, the bubble may burst again.
