It has been refitted with 2006 Y? IIRC the previous refit was just a change of seat covers to a beige colour scheme.

Yes, saw a 'rather sad' white painted 9V-SRN departing SIN at 1105 on Wednesday in front of my SQ217. SRM was there as well but still sporting the SQ colours.

        4 A330-300s
        2 777-200 (9V-SRJ, 9V-SRL)
        1 777-200ER (9V-SVH)
        1 777-300 (9V-SYK)

Not official, based on my guesses. 4 A330-300s, 9V-SVH and 9V-SYK to be returned to their lessors. 9V-SRJ and 9V-SRL to be retired (remaining 2 unrefitted 777-200s), which leaves us with 2 remaining purple cabins (9V-SVF and 9V-SVO).
Throw into the mix that SVO is leased. It's been confirmed in these threads a couple of times by people who seem to have good knowledge. Any reason for SYK as opposed to another 773?

Didn't realise that 9V-SVO was leased, so there's a chance it might go as well. 9V-SYK was just a guess, based on the fact that it is a leased bird. Not sure if any of the other 6 are leased as well.

9V-SRM isn't due for retirement anytime soon. In fact, none of the remaining refitted 777-200's are due to be retired for at least another financial year.

It doesn't have the 2006 seats?

Yeah it's a problem definition. It looks like a duck and but doesn't quite quack like a duck... The refurbed Y of the SQ*, SR*, SV* and SY* series isn't the same product as the A330/A380/B77W 2006 product.

It appears to be at first because of the new seat covers but then you discover the seatback may have a larger screen than before but doesn't have any of the other innovations like coathook, remote, USB port etc... The seat is still the same seat- the remote is still housed in the armrest and is still the old grey colour. The tray table doesn't fold in half and from memory there is no separate cup-holder.

The SV* series used to have recesses in the upper seatback where you could hang your headphones or glasses as you sleep- they all went for a sold plastic panel containing a "larger" screen, but TBH it really doesn't seem that much larger. Apart from that change and new seat fabric which is IMO far less comfortable, that's the extent of the refit. Bring on the A350 with 2013 product for when I fly to CPH!

You're absolutely correct, however there are some people on this forum that suggest that some 772's, 77E's, and 773's are due to get a second refit with the 2006 Y seats and IFE coming off the 77W's that are getting refitted with 2013 products, hence why he used 2006 Y. I seriously doubt this will ever happen though.

                  • Sorry to crash the party but what's the update with the Scoot B777's.

-OTA has already left the fleet and is stored in the US, but are -OTB and -OTE still parked somewhere at Changi? Not seen any reports of these 2 flying recently.

TZ are down to just 2 active B777's being -OTC and -OTD now.

The 777s will gradually be retired and sent to US, as the new 787-8s and 787-9s come in.

                      • When does the first 777-300ER get retired? Probably by the end of the decade?

                        • 9V-SRM seems out of action for quite some time. Thought they just refitted this 777 with the 330 seats

Nope. 9V-SRM is a 777-200, which are not due to be refitted with any new products. The only 777's that are due to be refitted with the new 2013 cabins and PEY are the original batch of 19 777-300ER's (9V-SWA - 9V-SWT).

                              Negative. 9 72Rs, 6 72Js and 4 73As will be retrofitted with the 2006 Y seats coming off from the 77W refits.

None of the above are being refitted in any way shape or form. The number of Y seats coming off 19 refitted 777-300ER's won't be enough to refit 19 777-200's, 777-200ER's, and 777-300's. In addition to that, these airframes will be retired within the next 3-5 years, so there's no point in doing a second refit.
