My guess would be no, as it's beyond the control of the airline, natural disaster etc. The other factor would be that KIX being a regional airport is not actually located in Osaka and therefore transiting passengers from NGO to KIX may well be more trouble than it's worth as most of those passengers would then need to make a subsequent journey to their final destination, e.g. Kyoto, Kobe, Okayama. Direct travel from NGO may well prove much quicker for them than being taken first to KIX.

No transport arrangement. Ppl are complaining in SQ Facebook about additional costs. Not sure whether travel insurance will cover or not ? So many flight cancelled n around 280-300 pax per flight n their CS already have headache dealing with all the rebooking.

Looks like there’s a typo in SQ’s announcements.

Yes, I just noticed that, as has today's return leg. Will be interesting to see what happens to the MEL-SIN leg of SQ248. Perhaps SQN had a fault? It's an incredibly busy day for them to be randomly canceling a flight for no particular reason.

Even though this is an SQ forum, my father's college friend is arriving Sunday from CX via HKG, and he just informed me his flight from CCU-HKG and HKG-SFO have both been canceled, so as a result they've put him on EK that will reach back 2 hours after CX's scheduled flight landing time.

On the other hand, from the SFO side according to FR24, SQ1 has already left SFO, but all CX and other flights departing for HKG are Canceled.

Indeed. SQ1 is the ONLY flight that is scheduled to land at HKG on Sept 16 (HKG time) from morning to noon, while all other flights are cancelled or delayed. If the typhoon really hits, I suspect SQ1 will divert to TPE.

Not quite sure how SQ decides to depart SQ1 despite that all other arrival flights to HKG on Sept 16 morning to noon are cancelled or delayed. Based on my experience, SQ1 is more likely to depart on time/reschedule from SFO rather than cancel comparing to UA and CX.
