Posted this on Airliners.Net, but reckon its also appropriate for this thread:

Biman Bangladesh was famous for their "wild tropical" prints on board their now decommissioned DC10s and everyone seems to think that they were the originators of the fabric design as the plane and seats were used until retirement of the last example in 2014.

While the reports by various aviation bloggers did show glimpses of the original owner of the aircraft - Singapore Airlines (airline's name was still embossed on some of the galley equipment). I don't believe anyone has actually realised that those wild and by today's standards gaudy prints were originally on board the Singapore Airlines aircraft as well.

    See these instagram links:

The seats and even wall panels are virtually identical to those images we see of the Biman DC10s at a point close to their retirement:

They were certainly identical. I must imagine, it will be difficult to visualize SQ using such ID on board their now elegantly minimalist aircraft interiors now, but in the late 1970s to early 1980s when the aircraft were in the fleet, this was probably the acceptable norm.

Thanks for sharing, Airtropolis! I am amazed that SQ had such colourful designs in their cabin. I've certainly never encountered anything like it on my own travels on SQ...

Here is a rather impressive set of old photos of Changi Airport, SQ, and some other airport memorabilia.

        https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...54248224619657

My favourite (You'll need to scroll quite far down to see it) is a black and white photo of an SIA 747 Big Top, with a gigantic model of the plane (with see-though cut-outs to show the interior) in the foreground...

The photos of the old Changi T1 also bring back a lot of memories...

Wow those are memories indeed, lots of them. I especially like the one with the old SBS Bus 394 - those busses...

I remember the days of old non-aircon SBS buses too!

Going slightly off topic, here is a Facebook video of an AI-colourized feature on Singapore from 1938. No SQ or airline content, but still, a very nostalgic look at old Singapore in this video:

              https://www.facebook.com/20216706147...5373743749191/

What's interesting is that 82 years later, many of the buildings and landmarks featured still exist. Many of the buildings / landmarks in the video can be seen in their modern guise in this TR "Tourist in My Own Country - 3 Singapore Staycations".

Wow I didn’t even think of those non air-con bus days! I was more thinking about those Leyland / Mercedes-Benz busses...

Nice take on Singapore and SIA aviation history

Just stumbled upon this nice video on Singapore and SIA aviation history.

The presenter is trying to retrace his parents' first trip from Singapore to various countries in Asia, with a particular interest in all the details around their first flight from Paya Lebar to Manila.

On his journey of discovery he ends up learning all kinds of interesting nuggets.

Spoiler alert: The fast plane has a small but not insignificant cameo

It felt a little contrived to include it but as an av-geek I'm glad they did! Few airlines can proudly say that their livery adorned that aircraft.

Very nice video! Thanks for sharing! I saw a snippet of this on live TV last month and was wondering where to find the full video

It did feel a bit shoehorned in, but as you say, we will take it

Re. the fast plane, I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to MainlyMiles for curating a rich history of the SIA Concorde - a story apparently full of all kinds of twists and turns.

Made for a rather engaging read together with my afternoon cuppa

Indeed, the production quality was outstanding. I now want one of those paintings!

The fast plane also features in SQ's commemoration of 50 years of London flights and in the video below (ft. the elegant new "Symphony of Flowers"):
