Usually, they just check that you are the person matching the ticket, and that you have a valid visa/exemption for the destination.

It's good that they are doing what the national immigration/security needs to do in the first place.

Some countries like the US, require airlines to submit to them the pax manifest before arrival so their immigration would already have flagged any undesirables before arrival and not waste time doing it at point of arrival. Batch jobs are usually more efficient for checking versus ad-hoc verification as far as systems go - if they can save a few seconds on every pax, the line would move a tad faster.

In an era when the NSA can listen to one's phones or read emails, it sounds crazy that airlines/airports are not online with Interpol

NSA has a budget of $11 billion a year; half the airlines are trying to survive. They probably push the cost to airports or governments.

I read that Interpol is actually building a Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, slated for completion later this year. Anyone know where it is?

If they're recruiting for an air marshal type-of-job dedicated to hunting criminals in SQ First/Suites/TPR, I might apply

It would be important to blend in, so one would be forced to consume the Dom, Krug, and other goodies.

I'm sure goodies include caviar which I'm not a big fan of (I'd rather have duck liver)... but with a glass of Krug, that will do
                        I would be a super-committed employee
