On 8th Oct 1986, the very SIA flight, a Boeing 747-212 operating as SQ388 back in the day, touched down in CHC, thus beginning SQ’s operation to/from CHC that spanned 35 years, and counting.
Sadly though, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, SQ’s celebrations in CHC have to be pretty low-key.
Interesting to note that SQ operated a number of their long haul aircraft variants to/from CHC. Personally, I have flown in their B747-312, A340-313E and B777-212ERs on the SIN-CHC route.
Here’s hoping that SQ’s flight to the Garden City would continue long into the future!
