I'd be departing on a DL flight (LAX-NRT), then connecting onto a SQ flight (NRT-SIN). Connection time in NRT <24 hours. Would I be able to check my bags all the way through to SIN at LAX?
Is that a same day or overnight connection? I'm not sure NRT allows overnight baggage storage (which would preclude through checking if your connection is overnight).
I've never tried for NRT, but DL usually allows checking through of bags if the connection is < 24 hours; in fact, the agent's default is normally to do this when the flights are on one ticket. If you have separate tickets, you should have a copy of both PNRs and both ticket receipts to show at the check in counter.
IME any time I have an overnight connection I am very explicit in telling the agent where to check the bag and then I verify it before leaving the counter or before the bag disapears. Be sure to get a baggage claim receipt in case there's a problem.
