Thanks for the recommendations, jhm. I hope the mention in the first post does some justice to them. (I very much agree about Hakkasan, Royal China, Yauatcha, and Hamburgen Union.)

(CGK, I liked the place where we gorged on Malay food. Please could you remind me of the name?)
For Bali, [B]Warung Satria[B], that's the one that we went. There is another one, called "Warung Wardhani" but it is too popular and sometimes by 1pm all sold out.

The Malay food in Vancouver, was at Banana Leaf restaurant at Denman. They have another two different locations, but it seems the one at Denman has better cook!

Thanks, SQflyergirl, KeithMEL, CGK and StarG for your approved lists. Unfortunately, that makes it worse for me as I try to diet to a trim physique. On the other hand, the recommendations make life easier for SQTalkers.

I've just added an additional category to my list, 'ice cream.'

                        Kuala Lumpur

                        Soo kee
Petaling Jaya - Ipoh style Hor Fun. Pity the owner is a PITA. Food's good though

                        La Bodega
Tapas y bistro - Some of the gang will know this one - it was a stop at KUL DO 05. Fairly similar to 1492 in Chi-town for those of you familiar with it.

                        Ali Maju

A chain of indian mamak stalls. Tandooris/Naans/Rotis/Curries - pretty good food - and very very likely, the cheapest restaurant that will ever appear on this thread. Think $1.50 for lunch a head and you get the drift.

                        The Third Floor

This restaurant i quite like - mostly western cuisine, but a little pricey

                        Tamarind Springs

Cambodian cuisine - again some of you may be familiar - was a stop at at KUL DO 05

                        New Ipoh chicken rice

Cheap cheerful chicken rice. J777 and me had dinner there in the dark once....

Soo Kee Jalan Imbi (not the same one as the first restaurant on this list. Name is a coincidence) - yet another one J777 has been to. Superb Ngow Hor (beef noodles)

What about the coffee shop where we had lunch? Also, the satay place? Loved them both, as well as Tamarind Springs & La Bodega

That coffee shop is Tin Mui Young (best i can spell it using my best England) - the satay place, Satay Kajang Haji Samsuri in Damansara Uptown
