  • Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Just had a fantastic stay at the newly refurbished historic Hotel Georgia, now managed by Rosewood

The following is an excerpt from the introduction to the Guest Service Directory:

OVER THE YEARS, the legendary Hotel Georgia played host to a long list of Hollywood royalty, from John and Ethel Barrymore, Marlene Dietrich (and her 40 suitcases) and Errol Flynn to Sir Laurence Olivier, John Wayne and Gary Cooper. But, the red carpet was literally rolled out for two of the hotel's earliest guests--British royalty, indeed. Edward, Prince of Wales and his brother George, the Duke of Kent stayed in 1927 while in Vancouver for the Seaforth Highlander's Ball, a gala event celebrated at the hotel.
Check-in was a breeze. Our Premier Executive room was upgraded to a Junior Suite. Bedroom windows could be partially opened (surprise!). Room service personcame to deliver ice all dressed up in white jacket and bow tie (for a second, we thought it was butler service )

Had a chance to chat with front office staff who looked like the Rosewood dream team with backgrounds in various Rosewood properties in the Bay Area, Texas, and Georgia. There was a Japanese speaker and a polyglot European lady (the latter whom we did not meet) and the concierge on duty spoke Cantonese.

Dinner at Chef David Hawksworth's namesake restaurant, Hawksworth, located on property, was fantastic! Tried the Asian-inspired scallop starter which came in a generous serving big enough to share. The rib eye for two main was served with perfectly roasted potatoes and the most divine hollandaise sauce.
