It's understandable for A380 which was a completely new aircraft.

One of the perceived advantages of the B777X was that it had a trusted platform and EIS will be reliable. But all the new engines have had issues.

777-9 1st flight delayed to early 2020. Meaning SQ might not get theirs till 2022.

Issue is the stator vane actuators on the front-end of the compressor are not as durable as expected so GE is re-engineering them to improve maintenance intervals.

I wonder whether SQ should cancel its order of B77-9X for safety reasons.
This event is a very serious incident. If it happens after take off, we will very likely to see a hull loss.

The 744F also had a similar pressurization testing failure.
The A380 also had a structural failure during ultimate load testing.

In the end, they all made it to production and are flying.

Of course not. This is what the test programme is for.

In the end, they all made it to production and are flying.

The first few A380s have even the wings structural weakness and even recently some have discovered minor cracks in the outer wing spars and requires closer attention and fixing.

Does this mean we will still see the museum grade 772 and 773 for a bit longer?

Believed the 777-9 are for replacing the 77Ws, and the 772s were be replaced by 2022.

The 772s definitely won't stay. The 773s could... but they also could be replaced by freed up 77Ws when long haul A350s replace these 77Ws on certain routes. At least until the 779 arrives in 2022.

Some of the 777w are really aged. I was on swk as sq1 and the leather wedge on the right side of the seat almost came off. At that kind of price, OMG.
