Given that wireless routers cost next to nothing these days, it's just not worth the hassle trying to use a DSL router with a cable connection.
For starters, I'm not even sure the DSL router is capable of accepting an internet connection other than through the DSL modem, which means you can't use the internet coming from the existing Cable modem to feed the DSL router.
And no, there is no magic device which turns the cable TV internet signals into a DSL signal for the phone socket...
